Diarhea For Over Three Months

Recommended Posts

Ever since i started my preop diet of liquids ive had diarhea non stop. So since may 1st i havent had a solid doodoo, i also noticed sometimes, and this might be gross but the consistency is that of like mucus. I looked up symptoms and i guess it could be irritable bowel syndrome? I thought once i was on solid food id be ok but nope a couple weeks into solids and still diarhea...cant be from surgery i dont think? Since i had these symptoms just before surgery is it a coincidence or whats the cause and how should i fix it? Ty ahead of time

OMG I wish I had this problem. I can't seem to go #2 to save my life. I constantly have to take stool softeners and now there starting not to work as fast. Ugh!

With me I have to switch up my Protein powders weekly otherwise they cause diarriah so one week I do soy and one week I do rice - lactose free or whey give me immediate cramping and diarriah.

This also sounds a lot like c-diff. I've heard it's a possibility after this surgery if you had any anti-biotics along with the procedure. It usually takes 5-10 days after you finish the course of meds, and then you'll notice. The meds basically wipe out ANY good stuff in your intestinal tract and you will have diarrhea non-stop. It's awful, and exhausting. I've been there. If your doctor doesn't think it's based on the sleeve diet maybe add in some pro-biotics and see if you can get tested. It took me a round of $300 (with insurance!) anti-biotics and five days in the hospital to get it cleared up. However I was nursing a baby at the time and they had to prescribe something specific so I could keep that up. Good LUCK!

to me it sounds like you should try some Probiotics, you could have elevated or low good bacteria in your tummy that is causing it. Have you noticed your toots or diarrhea being really smelly, more than normal? I would suggest yogurt and also acidophilus pills.(vitamin)

Have you tried going lactose free?

Are you still doing a lot of shakes? Sounds to me like a lactose issue.

Probably lactose intolerant now and that may include the whey protien shakes. Talk to your NUT.

I have it too. 5 weeks post-op. I have had this before too. I had about 3 month of IBS flare-ups a couple years ago that never got solved but went away on its own. I'm starting to think maybe it isn't from the surgery this time either and I really do have IBS.

Time to but stock in an air freshener company?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
