So that's so fun y you say that' date=' I've now been at the same weight for five days! What the heck! It's been almost three weeks from my surgery, has their ever been anyone that didn't lose a good amount of weight from the sleeve? I'm worried, I've lost 23lb from the start of my pre surgery diet, any advice?[/quote']

My biggest suggestion is Protein, protein, protein. When I have that in the right portions I lose much better.

To add have you been excercising? I was Sleeved in July and have had ups and downs everyone is different. I really think my excercise is the key and being conscious of what I eat. It will get better keep the faith. It breaks my heart when one of my sleeve friends are suffering.

I agree with the Protein. I notice this also, if I eat too many carbs and not enough protein I usually don't lose as much, if at all. You are only 3 weeks out! You are still healing from surgery. Everyone is different, but I guarantee the weight will start coming off. My advice is to just follow what your doctor tells you and stick with it! Making good choices is hard work, but it pays off in the end! Good luck, you will do great!!

Hey everyone, to any Independent Health'ers out there who are still pre-op:

I found out something VERY interesting today that I want to share.

Because I was still a bit confused about IH's requirements or pre-requisites needed to determine a surgery approval, I decided to call them directly to find out exactly what it is that they need to approve a surgery. I asked for a detailed list of all their requirements from doctor visits, dietary compliance, blood tests, etc.... the lady on the phone was explaining a lot (most I already knew) but then I simply asked her if she could just send me the portion of the policy with all the details that covered bariatric care. She said she could do that, and she would call me back if there were any issues.

I just got a call back from her. She said she did some checking and was mistaken with her previous info and that Independent Health has recently done away with their own specific policy or "rules" on bariatric surgery and that they are now following what is called "the national standard guidelines" for bariatric surgery. Basically if you have IH, your surgeon and his office should follow whatever this is and have you complete whatever is required before insurance submittal. She told me every IH member has bariatric coverage and should fall under these guidelines - and that if a letter is sent or someone from the practice tells you that "your insurance requires this or that"- they are misinforming you.

I'd like to know if anyone here that is still going through the process would be willing to make a call to IH direct and verify the above. The lady told me to search online for this guidelines thing she was talking about, but I can't seem to find anything appropriate.

This bugs me now that I recently got a letter from Synergy stating that IH still required a couple of things that I needed to take care of. And I can never get through to anyone there (at Synergy) or get a call back within a reasonable time and that bugs me even more.

-----

EDIT: I think I found the guidelines. Dated this year. See attached image (screencap from document)

Not a legitimate problem. The vast vast majority of problems involve not losing enough weight. Losing too much weight is usually countered easily enough by eating more calorie dense foods. But it's a rare problem. Don't sabotage yourself right off the bat by worrying about this.....worry about getting to goal. End your love affair with food. It doesn't love you back anyway.

Almost 4 months and I am struggling feel like I am wanting to eat more. I am trying the 5 day pouch test again last week I tried but my blood sugars messed it up. It is supposed to help in getting back on track. I am off today helps too. The consistant thing for me is still excercising daily a mile on treadmill or elliptical. I own my own equipment. Just got done cleaning company this weekend.

Oh goodness I thought I was the only one! I feel like a failure sometimes :( it's been 9 mo for me and I've only about 40. I fluctuate between 2-5 pounds a day and it's so frustrating! HOWEVER to put a positive spin on it I can maintain!!! We will all get there in our own time :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
