I'm No Longer Banded!

Recommended Posts

I'm glad u don't have to wait that long to get sleeved. How long did u have the band in? I had my for 7 years Nd my dr told me I have to wait one year. He also said he can't remove any scar tissue, bc it has to heal on its own. It's tricky bc he hasnt even seen how much scar tissue I have to even start with. I guess that's how kaiser does it?

I had my band removed this morning and was home by noon. Dr. Hoffman said I did not have any scar tissue or erosion. I had my band in since August of 2010. Everything is on schedule to get sleeved Oct. 1st and I can't wait!!

Congrats, Ann, that's very exciting! Hopefully I'll be less than 8 weeks behind you. :)

Alwayseating, I had my band since Nov 2009, so about 2.5 years. I would guess that's why my surgeon is only waiting me wait 4 months, since it likely didn't cause as much scar tissue as yours did, since it was in for much less time. I hope the year goes quickly for you!

I had my band for 6 and 1/2 years on July 10 I had the band removed scar tissue removed. A large hiatal hernia repaired and a sleeve. I am 4.5 weeks out and no more nausea and not too hungry. I am so happy to have the band out and very lucky the surgeon was able to do all at one proceedure

Good luck tomorrow, Amy!

Since January, I've had issues with slips and leaks. Add that to struggles to have restriction that provided relief from hunger without being too tight, and I just decided enough was enough. The band just didn't work as advertised for me, and I couldn't spend any more time or money trying to make it work.

I had my band removed after two years because I didn't lose any weight. I weigh the exact same as I did two years ago when I had the band done.

The band was either too loose and I could eat anything, or too tight and I would vomit everything I ate. So my surgeon suggested the Gastric Sleeve.

I am really excited, its been a long struggle the past two years. I am looking forward to actually being able to lose weight.

Im having my band out 25 Sept. I either never had enough/any restriction and could eat eat eat plus never feel full or had too much restriction where everything got stuck and I would vomit leaving me still hungry all the time. The bit of weight I lst I gained back 80% of when I got frustrated and discovered how eat around all that. I also have the most dreadful pain in the mddle of my abdomen I'd I sleep on my right side (but not the left where my port is....which baffles me). The maintenance of fills/unfits is a nuisance. The port sticks out too much and looks like I have somw weird growth you can see through clothes.

I didn't want the band, but got talked into it. Have regretted being such a pushover since about 6 months out.

I won't get my sleeve until min 10 weeks after band is, which annoys me, but 10 weeks was the best quote I got from consulting 3 surgeons. I just pray I don't balloon up between surgeries.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
