Lap Band in Mexico

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm new here on the forum and I wanted to know if anyone has had their surgery with Dr. Aceves at the mexicali bariatric center? I've been searching for a good doctor in mexico to do my Lap Band surgery. I will be self-pay and it's cheaper to get surgery in Mexico than in Texas.. I'm a little scared since it is out of the states can anyone help. :help: If not with

Dr. Aceves then with another good doctor in Mexico.

Look into Dr. Rumbaut in Monterray who is also a banster! - http://www.gastricband.com/

He did my band on August 8th and I would highly recommend him. But with that said this is a very personal choice so please look around and ask others. I filled out the form on the website and started talking with Cathy and if you ask her she will give you about 20 contacts to previous patients of his. I emailed each one and they were more than willing to share their experiences for me.

Good luck in your decision!

There are several good surgeons in Mexico, and some bad ones. I've seen members here post about aceves but couldn't tell you who exactly. You can do a search with his name in the search box at the top of the lbt screen and posts about him should list for you to look through. Good Luck! I had great service in Mexico with my surgeon, clinic, and hotel. I'm going back on Oct 16th for my first fill since banding 2 years ago. If I had a chance to do it all over, I wouldn't hesitate to go to Mexico again. If I ever decide to have PS, I'm definitely going there!

Hi Tina:)

I'm from Texas too (Houston!!!)

I had my surgery in Monterry, Mexico with Dr Arturo Rodriguez, he and his staff we're awesome!!!! I have to admit I was a little hesitant to have my procedure done in Mexico especially since I had never been ,but Dr R and his sataff make you feel right at home and they take care of you from start to finish...They even take you walking around the mall to ensure you are ready to go home!!! Let me know if you need more information I would be more than happy to get it for you.  :)

Hi,

My Husband and I were banded in Monterrey by Dr. Delagarza 4 days a go...The Hotel in right there and we had a fine experince. There were a few kinks like the Dr. Was late for Surgery and he wasn't able to meet us when we arrived. The hospital was clean and they have a wonderful staff. A few of my friends Highly recommend Dr. Kuri and I have heard WONDERFUL things about him. Stephanie the patient corrdinator was new and was wonderful.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I just relocated from Tulsa to Houston. I had my surgery performed in June in Tijuana Mexico. I have had great success. I had a fill doctor in Edmund, OK, (Dr. Philips), but now am searching for one in the Houston area. Do you have any suggestions.

Thanks,

I will be banded by Dr. Ariel Ortiz. He is supposed to be one of the doctors with the most experience. He also proctors and teaches doctors the procedure around the world. He has even taught doctors in the US the procedure. There are a lot of threads on him! Audree

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
