Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Recommended Posts

My husband found this group for me and I'm happy. He's super supportive and proud of me. I was sleeved in El Paso, TX on 12/8/14. I have all the prerecs: type ll diabetes, hypertension, BMI of 52. I have sleep apnea with Cpap and oxygen, back pain and knee pain and PTSD from my last boss who made it her mission to see that I was harassed until I had to take early retirement. I'm on disability now. I am having the ohardest time getting the exercise I need. I need to pull myself together and DO THIS. I have the food and

Water thing going now with very little problem. 4 weeks and three day post op. I'm looking forward learning from everyone. If I get something good I'll put it out here. Best wishes for us all. We have so much in common.

Hey everyone! I'm a nurse in Northern CA, for 30 years. I do procedural sedation for outpatient procedures. My surgery date is 2/25, I'm so excited, can't wait.... I've been on hold for surgery to get sleep apnea under control, and finally on BiPAP/AVAPS. I've always been overweight and healthy, but in my 50s starting to have more health issues related to the weight, sleep apnea, Higher BP, higher cholesterol. I'm determined to get this under control and feel good again. I'm so sick of collapsing in exhaustion after work. There is more to life than that!

I am a 34 yo labor and delivery nurse and mother of 3. Glad to find this group! I was sleeved on 12/30/14 my SW was 255.8 and I am currently 230.8. I have been going through a stall for the past 8 days so that has been very frustrating. Only thing I have had problems with since surgery is on the days I work, getting in all my Protein and Water. Especially on a very busy day. Which have been a lot lately!

Don't stress over stalls, they are part of the process. It's your body's way of trying to set a new setpoint, according to my surgeon. I've had stalls that lasted SIX WEEKS! Point is, I stuck to my program and at 10 months out I'm just 10 lb away from goal. I haven't felt this good in years! Stalls happen, just recognize it's a normal part of the process and don't let it discourage you. You'll get there if you stick to your program! :)

Congratulations on making a decision to better your life!

Hi. I've been an RN for the last 23 years, currently been in school nursing/community health nursing the last 9.5 yrs. I just had my sleeve done 1/28/15. I'm also in a stall, which I know is lack of Protein and Water but am really pushing to work on this. I get full so fast, that nothing really sounds good and I end up forcing myself to eat/drink. I started at 273 in Nov at consult, to 242.8 this morning. The stalls are certainly frustrating, but I know i'm losing inches during them as well. It's a slower process than I thought it would be, but still glad I had it done.

I am off to the OR at 2:30 today. I am both excited and scared, even though I am a nurse. I know this is not the "be all-end all" of soultions. I will have to WORK and work hard the strict and rigid plan I they have placed me on. I am ready. I am ready to be normal weighted and not have my weight be what holds me back.

Check in with you all, later in the weekend.

Helen

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
