It will go by so fast! You'll blink and it will be here =p

I found it helpful to keep busy. When I wasn't busy with work I was either posting on here or keeping myself doing projects around home. Cleaned the entire house. Did all the laundry. Got in some light exercise, caught up on some tv shows. Anything I could do to keep my mind off the surgery. By the time it was the night before surgery I was so beat from everything and just having Clear Liquids that I about passed out and it was surgery day before I knew it.

My first piece of advice is to stay away from any "horror stories." Only look at success stories. I was sleeved on May 21st. It has changed my life in so many ways in such a short time. I am off all blood pressure and acid reflux medicine. I am only 2 lbs. away from a 50 lb weight loss. Post op recovery was easier than I thought. The more you walk, the better you will feel.

Here is a quick fact I learned before I went in for surgery (and I was very nervous like you). Weight loss surgeries are so common now, that they are considered safer than having your appendix removed. Also, I was freaked out that I was going to die. My therapist said, at the weight you are at you are going to die, so getting this surgery isn't that big of a risk is it???? Wow! Good point. Focus on the good, pray a lot, and trust your body to heal and transform. Good luck!!!

I know how you feel. My surgery is on August 7th and I have been very nervous too. I haven't slept much all week, but yes, reading success stories helps and thinking about where you want to be will get you through this first step.

Don't worry! We will do great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
