More Restriction With Time?

Recommended Posts

At four to six weeks after my surgery I was eating 1 1/2-2 ounces of meat for a meal. (yes, that was the diet progression I was given). Now, at 10 weeks I can only fit 1 ounce - sometimes less. Also, I cant eat as much of my egg as i used to. Is anyone else having a similar issue? I thought my capacity would be growing, not shrinking. I rely on Protein Drinks otherwise I would never get enough calories or meet my Protein goals. Any ideas would be helpful!

I am the same way. Some days I can eat small meals every two hours or so, but there are other days when I thank God for my shakes because I just can't eat. It is such a chore to eat anymore. Darn it! lol

For the first couple months it will seem like that. I'm really not sure what it is, but it is common.

I'm 18 months post-op and some days I can eat a lot, other days not so much. If I'm tense or anxious, I can't eat as much as days with no worries. Early days, I think swelling played a role in whether my sleeve was tight or loose.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
