Only issue i have is that I have to strap it tight so that it stays on, and the strap hurts the back of my neck, give me a little headache, but I supposed ill get used to that too!

Do what I did wrap the back in cottonwool so it doesn’t dig and cut into your neck, plus you don’t need it as tight because the cottonwool will add padding and mean you need it a looser.

I would do the middle and both sides of the lowest strap because mine cut like a sob it was soooooooo much better!

Scared's posts on here have really helped me out. I'm on night #3 of this machine from hades. It's good to know there are others who hate this thing. My hubby has had one for 6 years and could sleep like a baby from day one. I actually thought about cheating and having him wear my machine to show "my" compliance. But I would like to sleep in the hospital and they are going to make me wear the thing.

Last night I had a mini tantrum. Woke up after only sleeping an hour and wanted to throw my mask across the room.

I've also been diagnosed as an insomniac. Very hard to get to sleep (even with sleep meds it's still 2 hours min) and hard to stay asleep. I only stop breathing in REM but that's not good.

The last 2 nights I've had it on while trying to sleep and that takes at least 4 hours right now. Then I'm asleep for an hour or two then up again, doze then take the infernal thing off for the last hour of sleep.

I can't wait for surgery and the day my husband gets his new machine (I'm giving him mine). I hope it all gets better very soon or the urge to cheat will get stronger.

I am the world's only C-PAP lover. I have been on mine for about 8 years now. I am not gining it up for anything. I even have a special small version for travel. I am at about 1/2 way on the weight loss, but have no plans to get rid of the machine.

When I put that baby on, the world goes away. It makes a nice soft sound and just tells my body and brian... "Hey, the day is over - give it up - go to sleep" Otherwise I tend to be like a three year old, fighting sleep. But I put on the "face fan" and I am out like a light.

And for those of you that say the mask is not sexy, I have two comments.

1. I get my "sexy" done before I put on the face mask; and

2. Did you ever see "Top Gun" or "The Right Stuff," When I put my mask on I am a sexy fighter pilot or an astronaut... (I do realize that it is just in my head and that I am sure to my wife I look like a dog on a ventilator..... However, since most of the voices I hear are in my head, I figure if he is happy I am happy)

I also love my CPAP! I've had mine for 9 years and cant imagine that I'll give it up, even after the surgery. I had a pretty quick adjustment period and I attribute a lot of it to the medical supply technician. He spent a long time trying various masks on me so I could find the most comfortable one. I took it off mid-night for just a night or two, then I was totally with the program. It's traveled all over with me and it's the one piece that I wont let airport personnel take away from me, except to go through the scanner. I've tried several masks since then to find one that's comfortable and doesn't leave dents in my face, but that's my only complaint. I also find that it helps me fall asleep quicker. I don't know if it's the pressure or what, but I put the mask on and I'm out almost right away. All I can say to anyone getting used to it is to have the technician check again to make sure you've got the best mask for you and to be patient. Maybe try it when you don't have to go to work the next day.

This is a helpful thread. I used the machine for only a short time. I had my surgery on the 13 th. and took my machine with me to the hospital. When it was time for me to use it I asked if I could pass on it because it was already stressful having everything connected to me. They said it was okAY. I was there four nights and didn't use it at all. I am not saying not to not use it. But hopefully in a couple of months I could get retested and they can tell me I don't need it any more. Good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
