Bless your heart, I don't know what to say. Do you use myfitnesspal? It can really help you keep up with everything and see what is going on. I started out at 335, so I was much, much larger than you to begin with. Maybe it is because you are on the small end of the weight spectrum. Have you talked to your doc about it? If you are sticking to a diet (low-carb) and getting in some exercise, you may have something else going on here. I am so sorry. Please don't let yourself cry too much. Sinking into a great depression will only make it harder to lose. Please get with your NUT and have a serious sit down, preferably after logging every bite and step for a week (if you don't have MFP, GET IT!). He/she can help you figure out a plan to get you jump started or to see if you might be in need of some testing. Best wishes and my screen name on myfitnesspal is the same as here. You can send me a request if you want.

Amber, are you keeping a log with absolutely everything you are (and are not) doing...make yourself aware of you slip ups? Because chances are you are getting in more calories than you think you are. No offense. Just that chances are that is it, and if so, you have the answers to your own problem.

I helped a young lady recently that found about 400 calories a day she wasn't counting - and that was in Creamer and iced tea and mismeasuring portions. It can be eye opening to keep a journal.

Please consider it if you are not...try myfitnespal.

Good luck.

I am a lot further out but I stopped losing too. I went to my nut and she told me to keep my carbs under 30. Boy did that do the trick! I had fell back into eating a lot of high carb snacks.. not much at a sitting but still, they added up quick! I use my fitness pal but I had slacked off of that and I didnt realize that my calories were up around 1100 average and I wasnt getting enough Protein and around 100 grams of carbs! No wonder I wasnt losing. Most of us have a low metabolism so eating 1200 calories a day will NOT result in weight loss. We have to be lower than that especially the carbs... They need to be under 30 to break the stalls and get things moving again. Try that and let me know if it works for you too. I have lost 5 pounds in a week and a half and I am 94 pounds down! I only have 5 left to lose and it helped me. The last 10 pounds or so are a real pain to try to lose too so you can get where I am coming from. I bet if you lower your carbs and drink your fluids (no carbs or calories in drinks!) you will begin to drop the weight again. HTH. Tammi

Weight loss is definately slower when you are smaller, but I get that you are frustrated with these results.

So, do you work with a nutritionalist? I think that is super helpful.

People have already suggested that you journal EVERYTHING. I do think that is a wise thing to try. I find that sadly, I can't eat much to keep losing. Even a few hundred extra calories here or there stops losses. If I undereat I feel horrid and too low energy, so it is a balancing act.

I have had good steady losses, but this last month things kinda stalled. I refocused on Protein and Water, and sure enough, 5 pounds dropped. I would be happy to share more specifics/feedback if you share more details on your food and exercise. That is not to say that everybody is the same, but i have definately found some things that work better then others and can maybe spot something in your routine.

So, I don't mean to sound discouraging, but you are right in the zone when your fastest losses should be happening so you are smart to try to figure this out right now. My personal experience was that I had almost no hunger months 2-6 . Starting just after my 6 month surgery anniversary, I started noticing hunger again. I am still losing, but it is definately getting a bit more challenging a bit slower.

Has you doctor ordered bloodwork? I had the same problem you do and it turned out to be a thyroid problem. I think you and the doctor should look at everything to determine the problem.

I was sleeved 3/12 and am down from 248 to 195, the key is getting in your protein! I've noticed my weight loss slowing down a bit, I don't tend to exercise as much as I should but I'm in a very fast passed work setting & on my feet 12hrs a day. I use my fitness pal & log all my food, weight, measurements as well. Are you losing inches???? My doc assures me there will be inches at times instead of pounds. I strongly suggest tracking everything you ingest, and keep the Protein up & carbs down!

1st Thanks everyone for your replies!

(History: I had a bad stay at the hospital, long story short, during my surgery my spleen was bruised causing me a great deal of pain, I complained of pain in the hospital and it fell on deaf ears, this was extremely tramatizing. After being discharged I went to another hospital through emergency and found out about my spleen. So this has damaged my relationship with my surgeon and I haven't been folowed by a specialist since that day. I have tried to find another surgery but this has been difficult I'm currently on a waiting list.)

I wanted to say that in the first three months I followed every rule to the "T" when it was possible. I say this because alot of days I had NO appetite and found a day or two going by and I hadn't ate anything. It's been really hard to get in the required amount of liquids but 99% of the time I drink Water only! On the days when I did eat, I ate only what I was suppose to eat. meaning mostly Protein my diet was more lean and green than anything .

What I ate: Lean ground turkey loaf with onions and green peppers, some sort of green veggie, if I used fat to cook it was a dash of olive oil never any breads no red meat or pork either baked or grilled chicken or turkey, no starch! Breakfast a egg and lean turkey sausage, very simple thinks low sugar fruits cantalope, honey dew. lots of fresh string Beans. On this diet I lost an average of 1 pound a week . three weeks after surgery I lost 11 pounds that was 4/2/12 since then I've been averaging about 1pound a week total weight lost is 22 pounds.

Last month I have been off schedule feeling depressed and helpless I said F- this and I have ate a few lunchmeat sandwhiches had some choocolate, a few chips here and ther but honestly I can't even eat a a orange without feeling full so I figure even on my binge I hardly ate much due to my reduced stomach uhgggg!!!

Oh another thing, I dont have any of those food trackers or fitness trackers mentioned in the or any online tools i'm just learning of these things.

I hope this helps other when giving me advice with my issue.

I never been a soda or juice girl or at least i havent been one in the last 10 years due to diabetes. I don't drink coffee or tea, I dont smoke nor drink alcohols. I only drink Crystal Light beverages outside of Water. Please let me know if I left out any thing that would help you all to help me!

Hi my name is Maria. I have read that the gastric sleeve can be done in two parts if you don't lose enough weight with just the first of surgery. You should talk to your surgeon because I'm pretty sure they can do a gastric bypass now to help you.

They will only do this after two years of unsuccessful weight-loss and it is a last resort option. Everything else has to be ruled out before the insurance companies will pay.

I believe what you are referring to here is converting the sleeve to DS or RNY. Though both of these are possible I don't believe we are anywhere near the point of taking that extreme of measures.

I'm really thinking the best course of action here is to hit the reset button, start with the pouch test and then progress through the phases some renewed dedication is in order here.

The crying part I get all these hormones flooding my body to start with was beyond crazy!

I was laughing at something and it turned to crying actual sobbing for no reason I just switched to deeply sad sobbing 10mins later fine!

Its crazy the ups and downs that you go through at first and I am still in that stage just less extremes of the downs and tears.

Again I personally don’t track weight they told me not to anyway but its never been my thing, besides home scales don’t go up high enough for my weight to do that anyway!

On the 30th of the month I take measurements and pictures for my own update.

The last time I was weighed was like the 17th of june at the doctors and I have no clue to date what my weight is.

I am not working out yet I have a knee problem and back problem can’t take anything for it yet so I was told to just walk around my house as much as I can and lift weights, I have 2.5kg hand weights I do everyday for my arms.

It doesn’t say where your located but if your in the uk you should have had them call you about your free gym membership by now, I got my call today that I am ok to start working out and can book my assessment at the gym any time.

I am really very new to this and having a lot of issues with trying to eat and even drink right now so I am no help on the food intake sorry.

I think it’s the best thing ever said to be by my nurse which is do not compare yourself to anyone else during this because you are a individual and what works them may not work for you.

It is hard with the emotions and the expectations from ourselves and the people around us who know it sometimes feels like everything is smothering us and you want to scream!

It is a big deal so its ok to have high or charged emotions about it.

Hope you work it out hun and feel better soon!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
