Calorie Intake Help

Recommended Posts

Hello hoping to get some advice and support.

I am 4mo 2 wk out and I am having trouble. I was told I should stick to 800calories a day no more than 20 carbs a meal 4 meals a day, I try my hardest to stick to this an I am also going to gym at least 5 times a week and three of those times I go twice a day, I do cardio and core and weight training but stall on the weight loss up and down a pound, I have also found my self hungrier and snacking on weekends. M-F I do great 10 + cups of Water and all. The last two weeks I've only lost 3# I feel I was loosing more before surgery :(. I also measure myself and waist line has remained the same for the past 3 weeks.

Please help

I think you need more calories per day to support your activity level. You'll likely boost your metabolism if you up your caloric intake.

I agree, I know everyone does things differently but I was eating 1200-1500 cals a day and made goal at 8 months out..... eating 1800-2000 now to maintain for the last 3.5 months...

2 things

1. For the amount of excercise you are doing 800cal is not near enough IMO

2. How often are you revamping your workouts? The body adapts and gets use to activities about every 5th-7th cycle, so to continue to get results from your workouts you should be redesigning them weekly or at least bi-weekly.

So I should up my calories, how about my carbs and Protein, my nutri said for my height It should be 50 - 60. I see threads here of females having an intake of 60-80.

My experience is to eat the bulk of my carbs for the day right after my workout because they help repair any damage that is done during the workout and then follow the rest of the day with Protein and a little less carbs. I agree with everyone above. If you are working out- your caloric demands go up- Good luck! :)

OTR

I change it up every week, i cycle some days and do tabata always increasing resistance, I use the elliptical on other days but I mostly take classes. Every week I take dance classes some weeks salsa others hip hop or Zumba. I then take core classes some Barre, Pilates, abs class, boot camp, circuit. Always upping resistance and weight.

I don't think i have enough info to tell you about your carbs - are you diabetic? controlled? off your meds??? I ask because it is a common co-morbidity.

If you are ok with that, consider making a visit to a sports doc for a complete eval since you have undergone such drastic physical changes - find a sports doc in the area that works with weight loss centers and such. let them discuss with you what could work best. Oh yes - and a pediatrist! to make sure your feet are weathering all this ok.

Pokey

I am not diabetic, thankfully I am totally healthy well except for a cold I'm still getting over. I appreciate the suggestion but I'd really wouldn't like dealing with yet another doctor. How is a sport doc different?

when I was in the losing phase I didn't eat more than 600 calories a day, and that was a good day....but somewhere between 450 and 600.

My doctor never worried about carbs unless someone wasn't losing. Protein was suppose to be between 60 - 80 grams per day. I'd keep protein up, calories down!

I reached my doctor's goal in just under 5 months, my goal, 5 lbs under his, about a month later. I've been maintaining since Dec 2010 at 1200 calories per day. It has not been difficult at all and I think I'm living like a naturally thin person. I never feel deprived, life is good!!

Six weeks out here and days where I hit 600 calories are considered celebration worthy. At this point I cannot even imagine eating 1000 calories a day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
