Help! How Do I Get Past This Stall?

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I am 8 1/2 weeks post op. My weight loss has slowed, but that doesn't bother me as much as this stall that I have been in for a week. My weight has not moved. 201.4 for 7 days. I am bothered because I have not cheated once since I started this journey. I follow all the rules. Plus, I am only two pounds from my first big goal, which is to be under 200 lbs. I am so discouraged and don't know what to do to break this stall. Any suggestions????

The best suggestion is to be patient.

1 week of no loss IS NOT a stall. It's NORMAL.

Our bodies just need some time to play catch up, sometimes.

I went about 11 weeks with no loss, starting about 3 weeks after surgery. it just happens.

There are "stall busters" but seriously, a week is not a stall.

So funny Stacy. I couldn't agree more. I was thinking I might go off the deep end with an 11 week stall. lol. Thank you Wheetsin. I don't feel so alone now. ;)

Hello~

I went thru a stall at week 3 and I her it is very normal, but yes it IS stressful....I was stuck at 184, and I increased my Protein and Water and the scale started back moving..and in 2 days I I dropped to 180, and trying to make sure I get in all my Protein to keep my metabolism going....one thing I did notice during the stall is that while the scale was not moving, I did actually lose inches, so it wasnt all bad...I have seen on this forum that when you stall you may see a loss in inches and that was true for me. Hang in there, it will pass!

I just ended a 8.5 week stall. And I am 10 weeks post op. I was stressing out hugely but all of a sudden this week I have lost just under 7 pounds And honestly just don't think about to much drink all ur Water and get ur Protein in and u should over come it once ur body has figured out what's happening. Just keep your eye on the prize !!

I am 3 months post-op and I think I have hit my first stall, I have not lost anything since 7/13 and actually I go from 200 to 201 back and forth all week. I would have to stall right before I get the chance to get under 200lbs. I can't complain though I had 3 full months of a constant weight-loss. So I am going to practice my patience.

Get off the scale. Sometimes I think we trade out food addiction for a scale addiction. I know it's hard to resist, but like anything else it gets easier with time.

You'll never quite understand how much stress it releases by scaling weekiy. Hey, doesn't stress affect weight loss?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
