This Migraine Is Killing Me!

Recommended Posts

I went power walking yesterday for about 30min and as soon as I got home I started feeling kinda funny. I knew a Migraine was coming on. I took some Tylenol/codine that my doc gave me after surgery an went to bed. Woke up today an I still have it! Anyone know the best an strongest medicine I can take to kill this terrible migraine??

I get Migraines and I can only take tylenol for it. The only thing that worked for me was Excedrin Migraine and I was told I was never allowed to take it after the sleeve.

May I suggest a few things from someone that gets occipital nerve blocks and botox in my head, neck and shoulders, take a warm shower, throw on a night gown. throw a cold rag on your neck and ice pack on your forehead. Lay in a dark room. I basically do whatever I can to get my head as cold as I can. (usually the heat first, because it rushes hot and the cold).

I resort to something that helps me also with headaches and that's Mrs. Grass chicken Noodle Soup -You can ignore the noodles just drink the broth. Make sure you get all your fluids in.

If you can tolerate Vicks Vapo Rub, I smell it or I put a little on my forehead.

Every three months I go in for botox injections*, they put then in my scalp* above my ears behind my head, my neck my shoulders - I wish they would hit by my eyes...but darn they won't lol.

I am allergic to imitrex and all pain killers. Occipital nerve blocks (that go into the back of the skull on each side are quite painful and cause golf ball size lumps for weeks but don't often work. The botox has helped immensely.

I still get break through headaches as injection time looms but 2 a week right before injection time is better than getting 4-6 a week every day. I usually have about 2 months with none then 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the injections I get them.

Cold seems to ease the pain, if you can have someone rub your neck and shoulders that could help too. Stay cool.

Im worried about Migraines post op as well as the only OTC that helps is excedrin Migraine (generic of course since you can't get the real thing anymore). You can get someone to rub very hard right at the bottom of your head. It will hurt kind of, but then it's a good pain, and helps the coming migraine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
