Hey Tasha' date=' let me clarify.... The process from when I first attended a weightless seminar until now has been approximately 3 months. Not the insurance approval. Sorry that was confusing! :)[/quote']

Oh ok lol :) I called them today! They said I should know by Friday :)

I have Aetna now , I've submitted paperwork and now have hoops to jump through. I'm 5' 7", weigh 253 now (Just lost 10 lbs) and have to go through a 6 month Dr. monitored diet first. I've seen her twice, had a bunch of lab work done, including drug testing. Frustrating, as once you decide this is the best choice, you've probablyl already been through many diets as I have and gained and lost the same 35 lbs over and over again. Hopefully by Nov. I'll be qualified to have the sleeve. Wondering whether the pliation or the full sleeve is the better choice. Still have to meet with the actual Dr. This is the 2nd time I'm trying to qualify. UHC turned me down 3 years ago.

Just curious, I have Aetna as well, but I am doing the 3 month option instead of the 6month. Is that not an option for you? I have to visit with the Dr, NUT and Psych a set amount of times within the 90 days. The NUT put me on the modified liquid diet after the first visit. I am currently on day 31 of the 90 day plan.

really? no one told me about any options. you have a modified liquid diet for 90 days? wow! think once they get you below a certain BMI they can refuse to give you the surgery? that's what I wonder.

No worries with that here- I am 5 feet tall but weigh 270! My BMI is over 50, and am prediabetic but probably diabetic (waiting for the test results).

I'll bet that's a hard diet to do right now. Hopefully, I'll qualify and get this done finally. I'm 5' 7".

Wow that's a lot of stuff! A few years ago the sleeve was experimental, so many insurance companies were turning it down. I think the sleeve is best for me....don't know much about plication? I thought you got that with the band? But idk :)

I have BCBS in VA and it took 3 days to get approval. My doctor said it could be any where from 2 days to 2 weeks. I was excited to hear back so soon :) Good luck.

Yeah, now I just have to see my regular dr 4 more times for my diet check-in, have a psych, cardio and pulmonary eval and hopefully get certed by the holidays. hoops and more hoops to jump thru. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. I understand the pliation is just stapling the stomach into 2 parts and not removing the portion that they would in a regular sleeve surgery.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
