Uh Oh, Please, I have to ask "What is a A1C" cause I eat a couple of hershey kisses a few times a week and I really don't want to quit that, its all I got right now..LOL

The A1C test measures your average blood glucose control for the past 2 to 3 months.

The A1c test is a way of monitoring how well your blood sugar levels were controlled over a given period of time. The lower the score, the more your diet, exercise and insulin or oral medications prevented instances of high sugars.

Even though reducing our weight and exercising reduces our risk for diabetes, there is still a chance of developing diabetes. The A1C is a test that lets you see how well your diet and food maintenance is holding up over time. Testing your finger daily only gives you your sugar levels, testing your A1C tells you how well things are controlled and working together.

Im really glad I found this...... I got my daughter KFC. And I took a teeny tiny lick of the mashed potatoes. I got that stuck feeling & realized I wont be doing that ever again. I was doing good until today when my demons came for a visit.

Oh yes, my "cheats"... I'm 8 days post-op. I'm very fortunate I can stay at my parents' house and allow them to take care of me. I live alone and my mom (an RN) wanted me to stay here for SIX weeks post-op. I agreed to two. lol I knew one of the biggest downfalls to staying here would be the temptation to eat. Granted, I'd be bored all day at home alone but at least there's no bad food in my apartment anymore! There's everything under the sun in this house, even though my parents and sister eat fairly healthy.

My surgery was the day before my sister's 21st birthday so twice last week I snuck a teeny tiny piece of ice cream cake (at least it was liquid-ish). I was home alone for a while today and found a bag of Cheetos puffs, the airy kind, not super crunchy. Of course I had to taste a few of those (but chewed to death). (Un)fortunately, it all went down fine. I'm anxious to get home and do my own grocery shopping so I can control my "cheats" better.

Overall, I'm not too mad at myself about it because I lost 13 pounds in week 1! :) And, as someone else said, it can't compare to the habits I had before. Glad to know I'm not the only human here!

The A1C is a test for how much glucose is in your blood after fasting for 12 hours. People that have diabetes are diagnosed by the A1C level. Normal range is under or at 5.9. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
