You are still bloated from IVs and anethesia and your stomach is still very swollen. Be patient - it will happen!

I was 228 day of surgery and this morning I was 221. But it has gone up to 223 this afternoon.

I know you are going to hate to read this, but you just have be to be patient. The weight WILL come off! Your body just has to adjust to the surgery. You are 9 days out, there are many, many days ahead of you!!

DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF NOW! ok. Whew. ;)

Everyone does this. They freak out after they weigh themselves a week out. You are swollen, you have had fluids being pumped into you for days. You probably haven't had a bowel movement and feel like crap (some do). Relax.

I didn't weigh until a few weeks out maybe and I only weigh once a week now. It will happen, be patient.

Yes, patience can help you. Focus on healing, walking, sipping, and getting in some Protein. you will get better and the weight is going to just fall right off! No need to obsess on the scale, it won't change anything. So sit back and enjoy the roller coaster ride! You deserve it. :)

I was 299 when I started the pre-approval 6 months diet. I weighed 229 the day of surgery on June 4th. On June 9th I weighed 235.

It comes off. There's IV Fluid weight, there is gas, bloating, and a whole lot of other things going on and a whole lot of swelling. I'm still swollen in my belly and on Monday it will be 4 weeks out.

Give it time, it will come off.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
