You're not done. You've lost 65 pounds in like two months, yes? Give your body a break. It has to stop, think, adjust. During stalls you may notice inch losses instead of scale losses. Stay away from the scale for a week or so and just do what you know and feel is right according to your doc and NUT. People try all kinds of things to "break" a stall, but the truth is, when your body is ready you'll start losing again. Things people try: up Protein, up carbs, up calories, up cardio exercise, up strength training, up Water intake. Of all of these things the thing you can most easily do is relax, breath and let your body continue to heal, get in touch with the you that is now 65 pounds less and rejoice when the numbers start to move again. Focus on what you can do now (Make a physical list) that you couldn't do with 65 additional pounds on your body!

Congratulations on your loss! It'll keep coming! :-D

Thanks. You are right. It is just so easy to get caught up in the number game. Thanks for the reality check. :)

Wow, you have lost 65 lbs. That's nothing to sneeze at. This is more than you would have lost without the surgery. It is time that your body is adjusting in inches and restoring the glycogen for the next round of weight loss. This is a time to rejoice with loved ones and make the daily habit changes to sustain the weight loss. It will stop stalling and continue on down the path. We didn't gain our weight over night and we won't lose it over night either. I too have gone through this struggle and at a point where I'm at goal. I was frustrated and scared that I was done losing. But I wasn't. So I focus on living one day at a time and eating Protein first, then veggies. I am working on eating a very limited amount of carbs. Hang in there! :)

I went through and thought the same thing and was very frustrated when It happened. I've had 2 or 3 stalls since my surgery in April and for me I found that getting extra Protein helped break it..especially protein from Chicken.. I don't know what it is about it..but it helps melt the lbs off me. So try upping the protein and see if that helps. When I do this I always loose about 3-5lbs in a day or two.

I am almost 5 weeks out and have been stalled for almost two. My scale has been up and down two lbs that whole time. But I agree, your body just needs time to catch up. I have noticed a considerable difference in inches during this stall. Just relax and let your body do its thing. If you allow your body a chance to catch up with the weight lose you will have less saggy skin :) And with that said I need to follow my own advice because this stall is driving me crazy lol!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
