I don't know what kind of enema you've tried, but a warm, soapy enema sometimes works where a fleet enema does not. Good luck!

I am so sorry for what you went through but I truly know how you feel!

I am pre sleeve(July 25th is my date) but I take narcotic pain killers for Chronic Pain which slows down your bowels and I have been on these since i was 18, about 9 years! Anyhow, of course once i started getting to the stronger ones the worse it got.

I sometimes go a week without going to the bathroom when it gets really bad and it hurts so badly and you just feel so blah and miserable.

This is the ONLY thing I am really worried about with the sleeve is that my Constipation will be worse(is that possible?)!!!

I have tried so many different things from laxatives, enemas, suppositories, Fiber, Water Water water, you name it i've tried it and nothing seems to really work for me because it's just the fact that my meds slow down my colon.

I really hope that once i shed 100lbs i can pretty much reduce my pain meds by over half which would be a great help i'm sure.

Anyhow, I'm glad your better and I hope you don't have anymore problems!

Johnathan

A word of advice....I was on pain meds (TRAMADOL) for a year and a half before my surgery. I was unaware that pills could not be swallowed post-op. I didn't think to ask my doctor about a game plan after surgery for my pain med. I was so scared. I found out tramadol could not be crushed. I was discharged home on Roxicet (no refills) wlbut that was for stomach pain. I went through a withdrawl period. It wasnt fun

I have had this horrible pain in my gut that feels like I am being ripped open when I move into a certain position. I almost went to ER Thursday night but suffered through it until Friday. Dr did X-ray and said no rupture just constipated. The pain was worse thing I ever felt. At night when I would roll over I would scream out it hurt so bad. She suggested relief from bottom end instead of laxative. I did suppository and pain did not get better. Bought some tea called super dieters tea. It taste fine. It caused ,Movement this morning. Pain better but still there. Crazy stuff. It not to this. I would be Great!! Not able to walk because it makes pain worse. What to do???

Good grief! You poor thing!

I have always been constipated just from taking all this pain medicine for years but never to the extent that you are in that much pain! I tell ya what got me going after a 7 day stint- a big glass of WARM Prune juice mixed with Mirilax! That worked!

Good luck!

Horrible and tmi, but I can't WAIT to have some Constipation and be more on the normal side. I go 3+ times a day. IBS, anxiety, and food doesn't agree with me since I was AT LEAST in 2nd grade! So hoping I will go from 3+ per day to every other day! Lol

I'd like to second (or third) the motion for coffee. I had not gone for ~9 - 10 days and I was dying for a cup of coffee. My husband had brewed his usual morning coffee and I asked for just a little demitasse cup, with splenda and powdered Creamer. It was literally under 2 ounces of coffee. I was thinking I probably didn't need to "go" much as I haven't had solid foods. Well let me tell you the coffee worked magic and the amount was astonishing. Sorry for being graphic, but I hope you find some magic to give you relief. It does take time for the bowel to recover from surgery, anesthesia and narcotics. Take care.

MGM- You say that now but I PROMISE you don't EVER want to be constipated! I would give my left arm to go regularly! You just feel so blah all the time! I've been dealing with it for years! It really sucks!

I can say that coffee sometimes works too! Especially if it is really strong, Starbucks, a good dark roasted coffee works best IMO. Fresh and HOT and drink it fast and it sits in your gut and if your lucky it will do its job lol

Good luck to everyone with this horrible problem!

My NUT said it's not coffee- it's the warm drink that does it.

Um....okay. I'm not looking forward to not drinking coffee.

Johnathan, having to constantly run to the bathroom since 2nd grade with diarrhea isn't fun either. I missed a lot of field trips and childhood because of it!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
