I everyone, I am now five weeks post op. I feel great. I am from San Francisco. Today I am going to take all the junk off my treadmill and use it. I have been taking walks but not they are not long enough. I just wanted to introduce myself, and I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you. Please feel free to give me any advice on food, exercise etc. I need all the help I can get.

Hi Citygurl,

Kudos, for deciding to up your exercise! I am 8 days post op and haven't started exercising as of yet.

My plan is to start walking on Monday, twenty-thirty minutes and see how I feel.

This site is a treasure of info, and everyone is very supportive!

Welcome newie...

Thank you both for your support. Just got off treadmill. Did thirty minutes and burned 130 calories. Feel great. It wasn't so bad now that I have lost some weight. Looking forward to it tomorrow.

Welcome to the loser's bench!!! Enjoy your treadmill, the trick is to make it fun in some way (listen to music, watch tv, read a book if you can, do little challenges, etc). Take some time to browse through all the forums here, there are years of questions and answers out there.

Let us know if you have any specific questions :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
