I was sleeved on wed 6/20. When does it get better? I've been fighting a fever and I feel like I'm carrying around a bowling ball in my stomach.

It takes time. I am sorry you are feeling cruddy. A low grade fever is normal early out. However, of it has or ever does reach 101 degrees you need to call your doctor. Hang in there and take it easy. Be sure to get lots of rest and lots of fluids in. Oh, and use you're pain meds if you aren't. That early out, my level of pain was very closely connected to my overall mental well being.

As a side note, I was feeling really good about a week and a half out that I started to do small things around the house. I noticed intense pain a day later in the are of my abdomen where my big incision was. When I had my 2 week postop visit 13 days out, I told the PA of my pain. I didn't tell her of my increased activity. Guess what? She knew about it and told me it is so very common. So just be careful when you soon start to feel better. Don't overdo it too quickly.

It took me around a month to feel normal. The medicine they gave me made me feel worse. But the good news is it steadily got better so every day felt better than the previous. I was sleeved on 3-6-12, and wouldn't change it for the world but that first month I might not have been inclined to say that:) best of luck and keep your chin up.

So the heaviness in the stomach is normal? Narcotics make me itch.so all I'm taking is extra strength tylenol.

Im not 100% sure what you mean by heaviness. I had more of a pulling sensation all over my abdomen. I'm 16 days out now. On my left side where my big incision is, I still feel that sensation. I know that is completely normal. If you have doubt about your symptoms, call your doctor. I hope you feel better soon. For the first week or so, I pretty much felt like I'd been hit by a big truck. It does get better. I promise.

Okay, yes, that is totally normal. I know you don't like pain meds, but they will help that. If your Tyelnol isn't working and that feeling is really bothering you then you might want to call your doctor about a different pain med. There are many out there so you should be able to get one without the itching side effect.

I hope you feel better soon!! I think your discomfort could be from the medicine not working well. Your surgeon might be able to give you something stronger that won't bother you so much. As for the fever, if it is higher please call and let your surgeon know.

I'm not too sure what you mean by heaviness... are you still on liquids? I'm wondering if you are drinking too much at a time. I have said a couple times when I eat something too fast or it just sits down wrong that it feels like a "rock" in my stomach.

Keep up updated please!

I had that side effect for the first few days home too... to the point where my mom called the surgeon to ask. She was worried about dehydration as well. He said to take some anti-diarrhea medicine. He said it was normal and happened and to be extra careful with my Water. It cleared up quickly and never came back.

When was the last time you talked to your surgeon? If it wasn't recently you might want to call and talk to them. Just tell them what you told us and ask them for the best way to approach it. That will probably set your mind at ease the best.

It definitely sounds like you need more pain meds since you don't seem to be able to walk. I have never had Constipation they talked about. I did and still do have diarrhea at times. On the dehydration front. The hospital told me 2 things that help to know if I was dehydrated: you should be peeing at least 4 times a day and if your pee is dark in color, you are dehydrated. Therefore, I always aim for light colored pee. If its dark, I ramp up the fluids as much as I can.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
