I received the call today and my surgery is scheduled for July 3rd. The scheduling person told me to start my liquid diet today since it isn't the full 2 weeks and that it was ok that I had already eaten today. I looked online and some doctors require between 7-14 days. So not everyone requires 2 weeks. Do you think not having the full 14 days is ok?

Thanks!

I wasn't even required to do an official pre-op diet (except the 2 days Clear liquids before that i'm pretty sure everybody does before anesthesia), so i'm sure 12 days is fine. Also, I highly doubt they would have scheduled you that close, but if you are worried just call back and double check!

I personally think you are fine! Rock the pre-op diet while I warm you seat up on the losers bench :P Congrats on getting your date!

I agree with Emily. My required preop was only 5 days, and I pigged out until then.

My Dr. only requires a 5 day pre-op diet so 12 is just fine. Like emily said, they would not have scheduled you so close if they felt it was going to be a problem. Congrats on your upcoming surgery.

Congrats to you! ^_^

My surgery is scheduled for two weeks from today, on Juky 5th (band to sleeve).

My Dr requires a two week full liquid diet because my bmi is 49. If my bmi was somewhat lower, my pre op diet would be different. But the two week liquid diet is fine with me, I've been in them before, and see it as a 'cleansing', & it will truly help my surgeon operate much more successfully without a super fatty liver to have to work around. ^_^

You should be absolutely fine, just make sure you drop the caffeine and carbonated beverages and do your very best to follow it! Best of luck to you and congrats.

My pre-op was 2 days and I did just fine.

Thanks everyone! I did ask her about it when she said it's ok if you ate today....just be sure to be very strict since you won't have the full 2 weeks.

I thought it would be fine but every doctor is so different. I wanted to hear from people who had already done some type of diet and know that it turned out ok. :)

I have to do 10 day liquid diet before surgery but I may do it a bit longer, if I can get myself psyched up for it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
