Hello Everyone,

I was recently sleeved in TJ (yes mexico) last Wednesday 6/13/12. I had an amazing experience and I am now still sore but looking for my checklist on what I should be doing. I slowly have been able to get all my fluids in, and today I had some tofu with my broth - can I do that? Seemed to go down fine. I feel tired as expected but I can drink about 60oz of gatorade, is that to much? I am only eating about once a day at this point. Any help is so much appreciated.

1. what should my calorie focus be and where do you all track it?

2. What are some good Soups to have during your first phase, strained of course - I am on day 5

3. When can you take a bath and what did you use to get all of this tape off your stomach?

4. When should I start my b-12 - right now I am taking a childrens Gummy.< /p>

5. If anyone is from CO, I would love any support - I will take support anywhere but just wanted to check.

I don't track calories, I measure ounces starting with 1 & worked my way to 2 over 1st 2 weeks post op. I eat every 3 hours & drink fluids in between. Cream Soups have worked best for me @ first single cup o cream chicken made with chicken stock (has extra protein), then others I could blend. Tomato/beef based has been too strong so far. Bathing, after wounds completely heal, but @ least 6 wks I was told. In Oregon, here though anytime.

Did your doc not give you some post-op instructions and guidelines??

I have tape over my incisions on my stomach. I was told to just continue to shower regularly with them and eventually they will get looser and fall (be able to be pulled lightly) off.... and I can attest to this because I had the some type of tape for my first surgery and this is what they did. About 10 days post-op they were pretty loose and I made sure they were loose enough to pull off so I didn't rip any of the scab (big no-no).

My doc has us start taking our Vitamins and supplements at 10 days post-op.

The post-op diet for us is 10 days of clears, 10 days of full, 10 days of mushies then you can go on to normal foods (as your sleeve will allow).

If I were you I wouldn't worry about calories right now, you shouldn't be consuming enough to even worry about it. What you should be focusing on is trying to get your Protein in, which will aid in fat loss (versus muscle loss) and also is a natural appetite suppressant.

If you're not already, I highly suggest joining a site like myfitnesspal.com or dailyplate.com!! :D

I wish you luck! :)

This is hard to answer because what you "should" be doing is whatever your surgeon's post-op instructions permit. I know that's kind of a non-answer, but it really is the best answer.

If you're allowed mushy foods at this point tofu is fine, just make sure it's "silken" or soft tofu - it basically shreds apart with basic pressure.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
