Jhumpries' date=' glad to see you are home and doing better, a supportive family really helps, I will pray that your family comes around and rallies around you. I went through Kaiser and do not have a post op for another few weeks, confirms all drs gave different ideas. I made my family a big meatloaf dinner, I sure was tempted but had to stick to my guns, they haven't had a home cooked meal in a while and decided its not their fault so why should they suffer. They were ecstatic to smell the aroma from the kitchen, after all how many sandwiches can one take....lol. Take care[/quote']

Thanks! I'm glad your family has gotten a little taste of home. I am so thankful that my in laws are with me they unlike my fam are very supportive and have been cooking or taking the kids to eat. I have to leave the room when they eat. It's hard when your life revolves around what kind of deliciousness is going into your mouth to what can I find that will satisfy that craving without it being repetitive and trying to get in the Protein needed.

Hello everyone!

This is my first post ever. I had my sleeve surgery on Monday, October 15, 2012, and it is the best thing that I have ever done! I go for my first post-op appointment tomorrow.

I started my journey on March 30, 2012, with my primary doctor who referred me. I then went for my first meeting with the bariatric doctor and team on April 27, 2012. I had to go through a six-month process for insurance purposes to get to my final date of October 15, 2012.

I have to say that I was totally prepared for this and have really had no pain since Wednesday. I was up and walking down the hall on Monday night after my surgery.

I made it through the last weekend eating only liquids while my family had a family gathering/picnic :) The smells made it so tempting but I just looked at it as, this was my choice and I am going to be so much better off when the pounds come off.

I can't wait to hear from everyone as to what they are going through and to share where I can.

Just got scheduled for next Tuesday, 10/30. I'm going to miss Halloween, but I hate Halloween, so no loss there. :-) Looking forward to new beginnings.

So, I'll be one of the last sleeved here, obviously, with a date of 10/31. I'm nervous like crazy. I have an appointment with my surgeon this afternoon. I'm afraid he's going to cancel surgery because my glucose levels are high or for some other reason. At the same time I'm scared of dying. I'm terrified.

I'm a wreck! :) But, I know this is the right decision. Just struggling right now. Seeing/reading how so many of you are doing is helping though. I can do this!

I really hope everything works out for you. I had this same problem and my surgery was rescheduled for 2 months. I finally got my glucose down and A1C number so I finally had surgery on 10/17 I understand how you feel I will be praying for you that everything works out for you.

Well my numbers were over 500 I was placed in the hospital at the beginning of July and my A1C was over 14 so I had plenty of work to do I couldn't even get a date until I got it down. I was put on insulin and changed my diet completely and started working out and in 2 months my numbers were around 120-160 and A1C was under 8 so that's when I got my date and now the rest is history.

UGH! I need advice. My surgeon told me yesterday to stop taking my diabetes meds 5 day s before surgery. My primary doc told me this morning NOT to stop taking them. THey don't present a bleeding risk or anything.

SO, wtf do I do? Did you all have to stop your diabetes meds before surgery? I know if I call my surgeon he'll tell me what he told me yesterday, obviously.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
