I don't do manual labor, but I can tell you that you're more prone to heat exhaustion and heat stroke due to dehydration post op. I've been experiencing a serious sensitivity to the heat this summer since getting sleeved. I typically can't go outside before about 4 or 5PM, and I've always loved summer/the heat etc..

My husband was sleeved last year in April and works in the oil fields. He made sure to stay super hydrated with Gatorade and Water and was fine. He worked 12-16 hour days also. If I were you I would check with the doc and maybe have labs drawn first just to make sure you are healthy enough to take on this Texas heat.

Honestly, I think the heat would be hardest part because of the risk of dehydrating so quickly. The labor part will have to be up to your doctor, some are different and allow it earlier. My doc said do anything as tolerated, however the fatigue you have after makes it difficult. 10 hour day could be a challenge. Talk to tourspcror and see what he/she would recommend given your history, health, etc.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
