Question about Moderators

Recommended Posts

I was asked to be a Moderator by Alex the owner. I accepted because at the time I wanted to offer whatever insight into this process that I could. As a former RN I have this need to help and nurture. I have not posted as much lately since I lost my band due to Erosion back in Dec of 05.

I have done my best to offer support to those that face losing their band since I can relate. I also offer support to those that have questions related to Erosion and such. I glean support from friends I think I have made here to hold me up when I falter. I hope I give that support back.

Moderating is not an easy job. There are always a few that love to stir things up. Usually it comes in waves and goes out just as fast.

When LBT goes through these "waves" I am saddened that it gets to the point the moderators have to intervene.

I cannot read anyone's PM whether as a Moderator or not. Alex may have the only power to do that. And even that I am not sure. Only he could answer that question. The only way I can know what someone says in a PM is if they share it with me.

How would moderators and members feel if they knew a moderator made fake screen names to play games with the board? Or what if a moderator used her moderator status to provide private moderator information with friends for the sake of playing games while lying to the entire board that it wasn’t them? What if this same moderator used the luxury of locking threads before the truth came out? Would you feel betrayed? Would you continue to feel comfortable that your posts were being treated fairly? Would you feel safe and secure even after any shred of integrity was demolished? If being a moderator caused one such distress and angst would you wish that person to continue their voluntary position? Or would you encourage that person to continue since everyone likes her? Is it based on like, or trust? Would that make it a double bann considering that person abused both their membership privileges as well as their moderator privileges?

After reading the above post, it sounds to me "fitter" knows something we do not know. I hope "fitter" takes the appropriate action and notifies the moderators and Alex the owner of this board and lets them all be aware of any information she has . To me in my opinion, a moderator should be held at a little higher standards then the rest of us. If a moderator is playing the games as the above post inclines, he or she should be banned. JMO

Or what if a moderator used her moderator status to provide private moderator information with friends for the sake of playing games while lying to the entire board that it wasn’t them?

This in particular disturds me very much if indeed it is true, we as members need to know we can trust the moderators and go to them with any isssue and not worry that are concerns and problems are shared with other members of this board.

Fitter if you have proof of any of the above mentioned, I hope you notifiy the moderators and the appropraite action is taken against any moderator who is breaking the rules. LBT for many of us is our safe haven, we come here for support and to give support not for games. I speak for myself when I say I come here for support and to offer support band or no band and I do not like the fact that there may be a moderator on this board who is playing these games and doing these things.

I say instead of making accusations under a secondary name (if that's the case) just say who you are and exactly what your complaints are. I think the moderators do a great job and are very fair. On some of the other boards I go on topics would be locked way faster. I'm sure if they had concerns with a specific moderator they could have PM'd another moderator and/or Alex instead of making broad accusations in a thread. Keep up the good work moderators it's a thankless job that many of us would never do.

The real comedy of course being, that no doubt the moderators know EXACTLY who it is / was anyway.

It's only the users who don't.

Using a secondary account to question the moderators ethics is kind of like changing your name to Steve, when you have MY NAME IS BOB tattoed on your forehead.

In my opinion, if this person was sincere in wanting to right a serious wrong, they would have quietly contacted Alex directly with their proof and allowed him to handle the situation in whatever way he saw fit.

What, and miss all this fun today? I've learned a lot myself. As usual, LBT never fails to "learn" me something new everyday.

Moderators should be thanked every day. It is a very difficult job. This board is run wonderfully. I've been on boards for 10 years and LBT is by far one of the very best.

I think "Fitter" has a nasty agenda. I cannot stand people implying, insinuating, hinting or otherwise being vague while stirring up trouble.

If someone has a problem than they should go to the owner of the list. Especially if their problem is with a moderator.

These nasty hints are just trash talking.

I agree that your normal member probably hasn't a clue how the inner workings of a list runs. And most don't care.

But to handle any questions perhaps there could be a sticky that explains a moderator's role, a quick overview of a list and who the owner of LBT is.

Thank you to all the moderators of LBT.

And everyone please pay attention-Absolutely nothing your write or send out over the internet is completely private. Nothing. It continously amazes me that people put out so much personal information on this list. But that is completely their option. I recall recently that someone was shocked that they found one of their pictures when they googled themselves.

Just to round this out-Fitter needs to bark up another tree-I bet she/he is one who wrote the "woke up during surgery" idiocy.

And remember Big Brother Internet sees and records all.

None of us know here for sure either way if this member has or has not gone to the owner of the board or to one of the moderators. Do we? But I can tell you this from my own personal experience when I was having problems with a member with threats and nasty PM's here on this board a year or two back I went to the moderators and they did absolutely nothing, the member was still allowed to be a member here was still allowed to harrass me and send me meand and threatening PM's the same thing could be happening here, maybe the owner or moderators are aware of this and are chosing to do nothing. Possible?

Fitter who ever you are maybe you should tell us all who it is, then this person/moderator will have to come here and answer to the charges to all of us.

Moderators should be thanked every day.

Diva, would you thank a moderator every day if they were using their moderator status to play games here and did all the things Fitter mentioned in the first post? I certainly would'nt. If this is true and the other mods are aware of it and are chosing to sit back and not handle it, then that is a shame. This could hurt the board if us memebers feel their is a moderator using her status as a mod to do the things she is said to be doing. We put our trust and faith in these moderators. JMO

I just wanted to touch on the multiple account thing. If the accounts were both set up from the same computer, moderators can track that through the ip address. You ip addresses are all listed as when you register. They are made available to moderators and admin only. Also, when you are banned, you are banned with your IP address as the key meaning you can't re-register from the same computer. (unless you know how to alter your IP address.)

I think that Fitter's original (and only as far as I can tell) post was to stir things up. Those were pretty pointed comments and questions for a brand-new poster to LBT.

However, I think it has been a good thread in general. It answered some of my questions and curious-ness. Not in a bad way. Just informative.

I believe it is Fitter who is playing the "games".

Can I have all the shoes that get thrown out?

Do you know why fat women buy so many shoes? Because we can gain 50 pounds and still wear the same size.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
