Slimed For 1St Time @ 12 Wpo

Recommended Posts

I ate a small bite of maple sausage patty this morning and slimed for the first time. I am 12 weeks post op and truly believed that I too had a sleeve of steel. I guess not! Perhaps it was the combination of sugar and fat (grease)?

Owww, that doesn't sound like a good thing. What exactly is "slimed", I don't think I've heard that term

Do a search on the term slime. MANY threads out there. On the website, search functionality is in the upper right hand corner. From a mobile device, I believe it is under Options.

For me, it wasn't WHAT the food was, but rather not chewing enough or eating it too rapidly. It is something you definately don't want to repeat, through ...

Okay - slimies. That was my "I am full" response for the first couple of months. Not that bad, just a big old drop of drool (gross) with no control.

I don't think you did anything wrong, you are just learning new body responses. I did not overeat or not chew enough (trust me I counted to 20 for every bite)

Congrats on your surgery!

Happens to me sometimes, I had no idea what it was! So thanks to those who explained it. It is hard to search something when you don't know it has a name!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
