Hi James - I have Primary Lymphedema - and I can tell you since surgery my swelling is way down. This won't cure me - but getting my weight down helps!

I am 4 weeks post op. I used to have edema from my BP. My BP is already back to normal. No meds needed. And no swelling since the after surgery swelling went away.

That is awesome. Thanks for the reply. Hope things are going well. I hope this works for my edema also.

Good Luck

I have lymphedema as well (thyroid cancer made it worse) and since loosing weight it is much improved- of course not gone but instead of using my pump every day i am using it a few times a month- more if i'm on my feet and it has a chance to pool.

Iml - so sorry to hear you have LE too!! Ive had it since I was 28 and I'm 50 now!!! I'm so thrilled for you that you don't have to use your pump as often!!! I've been off the pump for years now - ever since I had MLD therapy - made a huge difference for me!!!!

I have done the MLD, strapping, reed sleeves, stockings etc.. the only thing that helps is the pump...

Yeah - I did the read sleeves too - hated them. I preferred circaids and then about 10 years ago I didnt need those everyday either - now I do a compression sock - waaayyy better and makes me feel "normal"

I'm 10-days post-op, and the reduction in swelling of my calves and ankles post surgery was the most dramatic change I experienced post surgery. My work boots are literally flopping around my ankles now. My first 2 days home from the hospital I was urinating 5-6 times a day initially and even my ring size dropped till I'm concerned about losing my wedding ring already. There really are visible veins in my ankles now. Wow.

Unfortunately, at four months post-op (and quite a bit of weight down), I haven't really seen any difference - still hoping for the best, but not too optimistic at this point.

Proctor you look soooo much like my son. You are the same weight also. If I didn't know better, I would think someone took a twin I had somewhere else LOL. I took him to one of the meetings and he was not at all interested. He gets celluitis all the time in his legs and is laid up for weeks. He says he has no other health issues but that is hard to believe. He is a smoker though and he would have to stop that, I am having the sleeve even at my age because of so many health issues. I try to tell him it is coming all the cronic things that are no fun. Diabetes, hbp, high cholesterol. I would be interest in hearing your story. Best of luck, Mokee

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
