Did I Break My New Sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 5/29. At my 1 week post op i had lost 22lbs since my pre-op 1 week before surgery. I am now one week out and I have not lost anymore if not gained a couple pounds! Help!!! Did I ruin my sleeve already???

No this is normal. This happens to everyone especially when you lose rapidly at the beginning. Do not panic and be patient the scale will show your weight loss soon. This also can happen if your bowels are not working properly yet. It will all work out.

A lot of people retain Water after surgery. Be patient, work your sleeve, and you will do great!!! Don't worry :-))

Don't panic!

I was 194 at the start of my 2 week pre-op, Surgery day was 186, came home at 191, today was 180. I'm 9 days out from surgery.

I hear of folks losing 20+ lbs in the first week after surgery! I'm not one of those folks. I've always been a slow loser. Same happened after I was banded. I never had the rapid or large amounts that other folks seem to have.

Don't get me wrong- I am THRILLED w/the 6lbs gone. Just sayin' that I'm a slow one!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
