Just Made The Decision!

Recommended Posts

hi everyone I just decided to get the gastric sleeve. has already been in to see my doctor, doctor william fuller. my mom and sister both have had to gastric sleeve and have had incredible results. after 3 years of battling with trying everyday to lose weight I've decided to finally get some help and get a tool that will level the playing field for me. it's hard to fight a battle with no weapons. I have been over weight since I was a child, I am now 24 years old and ready for the stress and worry of weight loss to be a thing of the past, to now look forward to being healthy and vibrant and even happier than I am now. Im very nervous about the surgery and recovery sonce it will be my first but im excited too. all my doctor's and psychiatrist have agreed that it will be a terrific tool for me and all of us cannot wait to see how well I respond. I love reading everyones stories and think you all are so brave to seek happiness and admit that we need a little extra help, its no different to me somedays than thinking of having a gallbladder removed but other days the stigma of "weight loss surgery (why cant you just stop eating?)" gets to me, but I know that this is what will help me to lose the weight AND maintain. I want healthy children and an active life. So Hi everyone! Im not sure when ill be approved but I hope as soon as possible, ive laid my demons to rest, sought help and am already embracing the changes. I already eat healthy and am in the gym several times a week. So excited and nervous!!

A great step for all your dreams and hopes. Keep on the boards so you know you are not alone in this journey. Bumps happen along with hazards. Knowledge and a postive attitude which you already possess will be your allies.

I love my sleeve and have no regrets.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
