Hi All,

I've searched but haven't found anything related to my question. I feel at a loss with regard to what to take to Mexico. I am planning on taking Gas-X strips, but is there anything else? Do I need clothes while in the hospital? (Ok, probably not.)

I'm just looking for ideas or tips on what I might need that I haven't considered. Thanks.

In pre op forum there it's a "sticky" that has a really great list and people have added on to it. That would be a great place to start :)

Congrats. The things that helped me the most were chapstick, Charmaine or Cottonell Wipes, Decaff Peppermint Tea, hair brush, Truvia, Biotene and a comfortable soft fuzzy blanket from home. I didn't use my cell, my kindle, Shampoo, conditioner, I walked, sipped, slept. I made a decision after I got out of bed after surgery that i would sit in a chair instead of staying in bed, and I only went to bed at night. My big fluffy brown blanket, was a comfort. Cleaning lady came in my room and say oh look at the bear lol :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
