Had a tough time on Tuesday and my bp went through the roof. I'm usually right around 115/65 and it was running 160/100. I also was having med withdrawl from my antidpressant. Very sleepy and lethargic that day as well, so I ended up staying an extra night. Once I got home, I was up 10lbs! Well, hullo! Holy Fluid, Batman! Lost that in the first day and my bp was back to normal.

I haven't had any other issues. Was to move from clears to full liquids today, but ended up having a Protein shake last night and some pudding, with added Protein powder. I was light headed, my stomach was growling like nobody's business. I've "eaten" about every 3 hours today. Finished off the shake fom last night with about 1/4 container of yogurt for bfast, some more pudding and a fruit smoothie, with added Protein, for lunch. snack of the rest of the smoothie mid afternoon, and some puréed potato Soup for dinner. I was really craving something with good flavor, finally! Each meal was about 1/8 of a cup and I felt satisfied.

I'm doing pretty good. Still having pain on my right side. I am actually thinking it might be spasms in my new sleeve so I tried the anti-spasm medication that Dr. Lane sent me home with and it seemed to work. So maybe I will be able to get away from the pain medication since the only pain I am really experiencing seems to be the spasms (pulling and sharp pain on right side). My doc said my surgery went perfect too. I'm struggling with getting all my Protein in. I'm doing okay with sipping Water and fluids just struggling to get enough Protein. I have vanilla Protein drinks and am not tolerating it at all. I am doing okay with the chocolate. I have no hunger, which is great. I just need to stay focused and listen to my body.

Hope all of you are doing well. No one said it would be easy, but they did say it would be worth it! I just keep telling myself this and it is keeping me going.

Take care!

Christine

Hey everyone. Man, its good to see all of you. Day 6. I still have the drain and terrified now after seeing the rline's youtube on how it feels getting it removed. I think the doctor is taking it out tomorrow with my one week post op. Its been a rough week. Trip to the er. Only sleeping on my back. Unimaginable pain. I try to walk but the drain is so painful, I don't get far. Its hard to find a position where my back doesn't hurt. Others on this site think that will pass after the drain is out. I was in the hospital 3.5 days. Its been an emotional week. Alot of mental and physical stress. I hope to get back to work on Thursday. I think Im hungry, fix something to only sit and look at it. Get up and throw it in the trash. Usually when I think I'm hungry, I'm thirsty. I've had about 1/2 cup food total since I've been home. I taste and walk away. Feeling like a finicky baby. lol

On the up side, I'm down 10 lbs since I went in Monday for surgery. Total of 41 pound loss. Thats exciting. I can't try on clothes because of the pain but hopeful that will change after tomorrow. Anyone else having trouble with pain on the left side with a pulling pain where the drain is?

Looking Ahead, I bet you will feel so much better once you get the drain out. I was uncomfortable and had mild pain until they pulled it out day 2 post op.

I'm doing so well! Was walking the next day. I am still pretty sore on and get tired easily but I'm well. Hope everyone is doing great! Its so weird to want food but you just can't eat it.... I had 3 baby spoon full of very soft potatoes last night and wow it filled me up! I wanted more but I just couldn't. I am excited to see what this next month brings in weight loss.

Looking Ahead, don't stress abut the drain removal. It's more uncomfortable than painful; a strange sensation as they pull it out. tara1021 I too take an anti-depressant. Had my Wellbutrin formula changed from SR (sustained release) to the standard formula for crushing. Ask your doctor about crushing your med(s); I do and mix it with liquid.

Surprised some of you are eating soft foods and full liquids already. I have a clear liquid diet for another week; 2 weeks altogether. I have been able to meet my Protein requirement because I've been mixing Isopure with water; nurse says 40 grams of Protein is enough for right now. I'm not hungry for food but I do miss cooking and eating.

I'll be posting another YouTube video about my journey on July 5th. You will be able to find it on YouTube be typing "Rachel's Life After Gastric Sleeve Surgery" in the search bar.

Keep up the good work friends!

Rachel

Rachel, so happy for you. You are doing great girl. I know the feeling about crying when you get on the scales and it has went down again. Love seeing your blogs on You Tube. Today was my first day back to work. I had about 4 people look me up and down but didn't say anything...I just smiled inside and 3 asked if I was losing weight. :D I was hesitant about telling people about the surgery but found myself wanting to tell them today and did. I was able to wear clothes that were too little for me when I left work 2 weeks ago. I felt like I looked nice today and stood a little taller.

Still having alot of pain in my left side but today seemed to be a little better. I think being at work and having my mind on something other than the pain helped too.

I also had on a girdle style tank top on under my shirt which helped the pain tremendously. Looking forward to more mornings of lower numbers. Take care everyone and keep posting updates !!

Hugs

Thank You Angie, more to come!

Has anyone else had a PULLED ABDOMINAL MUSCLE? The nurse thinks that's what it is; on the left side but down further than my stomach. My guess is that I started sitting up out of bed too soon, really could have been anything. I also had a few hard sneezes while sitting down. I found a pair of girdle shorts that helps the abdominal pain a bit but the band goes right accross my sleeve! Going to lay low this weekend due to lots of pain; the exception is going to the store. After 2 weeks of Clear Liquids I've been advanced to full liquids, finally going to get some real nutrition!

Wishing you all well,

Rachel

I have started wearing a spandex style camo under my shirts. Saves a lot of pain the left side. With the shirts, it doesn't sit on the incision site. I bought two at Walmart today $16 each. Lane Bryant carries Spank brand but they were 56.00 today when I checked. Penny's has some for $36. They are hot and I feel like I'm in a body suit but it cuts the pain in half. Hope you feel better soon. I use a heating pad on my stomach for pain and ice on my back muscle behind it.

sorry its been so long since my post, as I am sure you are all waiting on pins and needles for my post  .

almost 3 weeks post op and things are a roller coaster for me, today seems to be a good day. it has been very emotional for me, I used to cook for stress, and now I can't and this has to be the second most stressfull event in my life. I was doing pretty good until Tuesday ( my two week follow up), where my doctor approved me to move onto phase 3. So I came home and at a scrambled egg, well I may have overdone it a bit and got a little sick, and since then I feel like something is stuck in the back of my throat. I moves from time to time but won't go away, I have gone back to liquids but it is very frustrating.

I am just having a terribly difficult time learning the signals from my body, I think once this thing in my throat is gone I will be very happy and be on the way to feeling like myself again.

Yes, I think this is my problem too! I haven't been able to get "in tune" with my body's responses yet. The trouble is I've always had problems with IBS, heartburn, burping/gas so it's hard to know what my normal issues are and what are intolerances/hunger/fullness. I'm used to it all so it's difficult to pick up on any changes.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
