I am trying to motivate myself by imagining what my life will look like 3 months out from surgery. New clothes, better confidence, kids seeing changes in their mommy, hubby seeing a difference in my weight...A world in which I am not consumed by food. I simply can't wait. I am now in the 5 month of the 6 month supervised diet requirement. I can not wait to get the process going! I'm hoping that they will schedule my surgery next month once I complete my last 6 month requirement. I'm so excited!

I think we all dream of the future for several different reasons. I know I'm looking to all the physical and health benefits of losing weight and that makes me "look ahead". Also, looking ahead has helped me get through this preop diet....well 12 of 14 days of it.

Best of luck to you in your journey!

Visualizing the future is a great tool when it comes to weight loss! All of things you mentioned are true at the 3 month mark. You may still be obsessing over food, but only to the point of "did I get enough Protein in today" type of things.

Congrats on getting so far in your pre-op diet. According to my surgeon, TONS of people never stick it out and either end up paying out of pocket or just never come back. I truly think it is one of the hardest parts of the journey. The hardest being waiting for your insurance approval, followed by waiting for you date!

Be happy :) You are doing great and it is obvious in your post!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
