Here is the skinny (no pun) on what happened…

We arrived at 12:15 and where whisked off to the pre-op room and signed, signatured and led into a room to get changed. With in minutes of that, we talked to Dr. Yau, the Nurse and the Gasman. It seemed that the feller before me, Robgoblin, had a complication and had to be done last so they rushed me into his spot. By 1300hr I was in the Op-room, prepped and drifting to sleep.

The next thing I know, I’m in recovery, with a tube in my throat and a gallon of spit that had nowhere to go. They took it out and I woke up more and more by the minute. Then (Totally freaked me out) I couldn’t breath, it was like my throat had a spasm and wouldn’t let any air in. For a few Panic filled moments I was sat up and slowly the breath came back to me.

About 1430hr (2:30pm) I was staggering my way to my room for the night, where I sucked up 3 bags of IV and drifted between the waking world and the dream world. Puke/pain killers where the preferred cocktail (though drinking through my bum was not my favourite part) but the needles made the pain subside and made me sleep more.

I was up at 0500hr and on the road by 0630hr and home by 0800hr.

Ouch! Need to stop now…

It sounds like you were done at the hospital, not the TLBC clinic, eh? What kind of pain meds did they send you home with? Demerol or Tylenol 3s? How are you feeling post-op?

Lots of questions, eh? And lots of congratulations to you from Green!!!!:) :waytogo: :P

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
