Frustrated!

Recommended Posts

I have been doing couch to 5K and I LOVE it! I haven't run in almost 30 years and now with over 100 pounds lost I gained the courage to try running. So yesterday was a gorgeous day, blue skies, slight breeze...put my ear buds in my ears...."How you like me now" playing on my ipod and when the app says "start running" I take about 4 steps and BAM!! my achilles tendon starts to kill...I pull up lame like a race horse. It was so painful. Now, according to my trainer, I am off the track for at least a week and can only weight train. I am so frustrated. I really want to run. Wow...did I just type that???!!! Gotta love the sleeve! I went from 331 pounds to"I really want to run" in 10 months! Grrr...anybody else mess up their achilles tendon?

I'm not at that point yet where I'd want to run but I am so thrilled for you!! You should be very proud of yourself. Use this "down" time for other positive things that you can do. It will pass and you can try to run again soon. Good luck!!! :)

Your thread is so bitter sweet. I know what you mean about for the first time ever WANTING to run (without someone chasing you with a weapon)! I started the C25K and will be starrting week 3 tomorrow. I'm sorry you ran into this snag! I'm sure with the right medical interventions you'll be up and running in no time!!

Unfortunately I know your pain so well!! I've been running about a year now and have now done 2 half marathons, my last one being about a month ago- where I injured my IT band. After a month of physio, I got the go ahead to run last week. I was aloud to push it, but not to pain- which I did!! Except, now my knee is killing me!!! I have another have marathon in 20 days and I'm afraid I'm going to need to pull out of it :(

I'm so sad and discouraged!! My run today felt so freeing!! It's so nice to clear the cobwebs and allow clearness in. I can't believe how much I've missed that this month- or how I ever lived without it before!!!

I haven't had any Achilles issues, which is amazing since a torn Achilles ended my college football experience before it really got started. I did recently have had some rotator cuff issues in my shoulder which held up my triathlon training. I have 3 sports to train for so it did allow me to focus on the others. Weight training / core training is really good for you though and should still benefit you in running.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
