I have been looking for the same book. I tried downloading it, No success. I guess I will have to order it.

I was just approved today for July 23rd! I am stocked up on books from Barnes and Noble about all different aspects and expectations of surgery. I'm currently looking for books that deal with the emotional aspect after surgery and have seemed to find some good things on Amazon. Good luck to everyone!

Good idea...Amazon. Thanks

I just had my pre-op appointment for my July 13th procedure: meeting with nurse, urine test, blood work, meeting with an anesthetiologist and vitals done! Now I'm off to a meeting with my nutritionist, things are starting to get real! It'll be even more real once I start my pre-op diet, which I am not exactly looking forward to! But in general, things are getting real! So excited! X

My doctor seemed pleasantly surprised I lost 20 pounds since he last saw me especially since he doesn't do a pre op.

Today was my last preop meeting with doctor. Have two more doctor appoints before surgery : cardiologist and pulmonologist.

Should be all set to go by end of day on monday other than my egd on thursday.

My date is 95% changing from the 18th to the 11th!!!! I'm so nervous. I couldnt even talk straight on the Phn with my dr. Office. I go in the morning to find out the final details!!!!!!!!! This is really happening. This is my 3rd time to go through the pre-op stuff, and this time I WILL NOT let my nerves or my family talk me outta this.(I haven't told my family :-)) Super excited. yet scared to death. I usually don't do things for myself.

What are July Sleevers doing to pass the time? I have another month left for the end of the year and I don't know what to do. I was told not to start my pre-op liquid diet yet , I have not a clue as to what to do while waiting? I am hearing all these numbers about percentage of weightloss after surgery do you know is the wightloss percentage 30% 50% less or more?

I started on Atkins while I wait for my date to start the liquid diet. I have already lost 10 pounds and I think it will only make the switch to liquids that much easier for me. It's wonderful to have lost that 10 pounds and know that it will never come back again. It's GONE. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
