Today I hit the 40lb's down mark since my surgery on 4/12 and I couldn't be more excited. Last week I was not so excited to discover the first sign of loose skin at the very top of my upper thighs. I was drying off after my shower when I saw my reflection in the mirror and saw the skin for the first time...I was horrified to say the least! I got very upset for just about a minute and sat down on the bed to regain my composure. I began reasoning with myself that there was going to be more loose skin as my weight loss continued but then I realized that I shouldn't be surprised by it. We can't expect to be overweight for so long and not have our bodies damaged by it in some way. I thought about it more over the next few days and decided to put my big girl panties on and just deal with it. That was last week and today I am totally fine with it. I am getting stronger and healthier every day and as long as I look nice in my clothes who gives a rip about a little loose skin! lol Looking good and feeling good comes from a place of gratitude and that is something I will remember each day.

I completely understand. You are taking the right steps. There is a great article on one of the forum about 20 tips to not have the loose skin.

Some of the things I am trying is lots of suncreen, lotion, sea salt scrubs. The more your skin is hydrated the better it can repair itself.

There was a few other things listed like wraps and such. I will post it when I find it

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
