Almost two weeks out and very sad and depressed. I hate the way I'm feeling and I'm not the type of person to feel sorry for herself. Physically I couldn't ask to be any better, mentally i am a basket case !!

Is it possible to go to the person who did your psych exam or to a psychologist? He/she may be able to help you figure out what is happening.

Do you have a history of deprssion or is this all new fir you?

Have you had any other surgery before? I've found that anesthesia and pain medicine cause me to feel depressed and teary for up to a month after surgery. Getting outside and in the sun helps me as does upbeat music and funny books/movies.

In anticipation of having some low moments, I've enlisted the help of a therapist to help me work through why I overeat. Our sessions aren't about food. They're about the feelings and experiences I'm having and have had that I'm trying to cope with using food. Highly, highly recommend finding someone to talk to. But if you meet with a therapist and don't click...try another. You want someone you can feel truly comfortable with. Good luck...you don't have to go it alone!

I was self pay so there was one surgeon visit and one nut visit before my surgery. I've never had depression other than a dark period when my dad died in an accident. I have spent all that I have on the surgery so I guess I'll have to get my therapy here. I'll be ok it surely can't always feel like this.

Are you attending support group meetings? If not, that's a GREAT place to start. The hospital where I'm having my surgery has a free, monthly support group.

Check with your HR person to see if you have an EAP at work, too.

Hang I there...it's still so soon!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
