The More I Lose, The More I Fear...

Recommended Posts

When you are young skin will shrink.

Losing 100 pounds when I was 35 was a lot different than now at 45.i had almost no extra skin then.

Fair skin stretches more than dark skin.Darker skin is just stronger than very light skin.

Other factors that dictates what your skin will do is genetics.Look at your mom, grandma aunt and it is sometimes like looking in a mirror when you get older.

How many times have you lost a lot of weight in your life?that also makes a difference.Have you smoked and many more factors.

I have 2 friends that have had the surgery and are at goal. One is olive complexion, not much dieting success in her past and her skin is where it belongs..lol.Normal.The other girls is very fair like me and even though she exercised like a complete lunatic she had to have her arms, legs, tummy and boobs done.In fact, her face needs doing to fit that super new body of her.She never smoked in her life but she has deep skin folds on her face.

You are lucky in that respect or not.

xxo

You ladies, make me thankful that I have no loose skin, down to 187 from 250 and I see no sign of the loosey goosey. I do however, workout at least 60-90 min 6 days a week, lift weights and do lots of lower body exercises as well as cycling classes 3 days per week. So I am thankful, good luck to you guys.

Exercise! Exercise! Cardio and Strength Training. Hire a personal trainer. Make sure it's one that is familar with WLS. Most experts say pick different days to do both but WLS folks should incorporate both everyday and of course walk, walk, walk. I'm two weeks out and started to trip because my thighs were getting the jiggle. ( I could feel it too.) I'm bottom heavy so it's mulitplied x2. I asked my surgeon if I could start working out and I was given the green light excluding weights (lifting anything 25 pounds or more)

I know being a gym rat isn't at the top of everyone's to-do list but it's so important. It will at least minimize some of the sagging skin. Good Luck!

Pannilectomies can be covered by insurance. This is only for the removal of skin that hangs from the lower stomach and it does not include a Tummy Tuck (tightening of muscles in upper abdomen).

Keep exercising, taking care of your skin and getting all your Water. Work on what you can work on now and don't worry so much about later. Our goal now is to get to goal and maintain it. You shouldn't get plastics until then anyway right? The insurance demands that you maintain your goal at a normal BMI for 6 months. I think Kaiser is below 30 BMI, but IMHO. that is too high.

There was another post I read yesterday about ways to tighten skin. One of the tips was body scrubs -- I think it is supposed to stimulate collagen.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
