Disappointed

Recommended Posts

I am so disappointed I went Thursday for a fill. My doctor setup a special appointment for this. Once I got there and he weighed me he decided not to give me one. I had lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. Only problem is I am starving and I truly thought a fill would help me out. The only thing he did was to up my calories and schedule me back in 2 weeks. I know I shouldn't want to rush things but I really wanted not to feel hungry all of the time.

Wow congrats on that weight loss - you must be doing something right - just a suggestion - maybe you DO need to up your calories somewhat so you are not starving - you can eat until satisfied - just not FULL/stuffed. And sometimes if you lose too fast it's not too good either. So, i know you are unhappy but your doc sounds sensible and is telling you, hey, eat a little more so you are not hungry and lets see how much weight you lose like that. Give it a try, i bet you will still drop some lbs (remember 1-2 PER WEEK is considered great and you are WAY beyond that) no sense being hungry all the time - eat bigger meals or have a few high Protein Snacks between meals and enjoy some food. hang in there!!! mary

I agree! Grats on the weightloss. And your Dr is smart not to fill you when your weight loss is going so well. Currently, you are losing at twice the average rate. That's excellent!

You say he upped your calories. Are you exercising a lot? If so, that could account for the increase in hunger and rightfully so. You could just need more fuel and it sounds like your Dr recognized this. So, the question is... how are you doing on getting in a min of 60g of Protein per day? Are you succeeding? Or are you eating more carbs? Carbs will make you hungry while good solid Protein (red meat, chicken, fish) will satisfy that need for fuel and takes longer to digest, so you stay full longer.

Don't ever look for restriction to be the only answer to hunger. Have you seen this checklist for determining whether or not you need a fill? Check it out carefully, there are many adjustment options and not all are in regard to the fill in our bands.

Getting almost of my Protein in and very little carbs. My protein is usually at 45-55 per day. I try to walk but that is my only excerise I do. I drink my Water constantly and still have the hunger thing going on. It has been better since I upped my calories to 1000. I go back to him on the 31st then he will decide if he will give me one then or not. It depends on how fast I am losing I guess.

Ok, sounds like youre on top of things. Do try to up your Protein intake to at least 60-75g per day. Are you drinking with your meal? You know not to right?

And 1,000 calories a day is very reasonable for us. I'm glad he upped you a bit. Have you tried the Gorton's Grilled Fish Fillets? Two of those are only 200 calories, and served with 1/2 cup of peas and carrots, or green Beans, and you won't be hungry! Promise!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
