I have an eye apt next wed but find myself having issues with my glasses now and my script hasn't changed for the last 3 years. I don't know what is up but I am down almost 50 lbs and have been noticing it for a little while now.

Yes! I did not associate it with VSG, however. I've had pretty steady eyesite but this last year my eyes got really bad. I do have reading glasses but I never really "needed" them. Now I can't see with them or without them. I am also scheduled for an apt.. I wonder if there's any relationship?! Lets see what others post!

I think I need an eye exam, but it has been awhile sine my last test (for correction). I don't know if it has anything to do with the surgery, my guess would be no relation or very little.

I have glasses for astigmatism, that are so light people regularly think I'm wearing them for cosmetic reasons with just glass in the lenses! I only need them when my eyes are very tired after a long day of computer/book work. Then suddenly around March I noticed one of my eyes doesn't seem to be a strong as the other, that I am favoring one side of my head and turning toward things like a bird and that my glasses don't really help and I have headaches. I need to see an optometrist. But, what on earth about rapid massive weight loss could affect vision?!?!?!?!!

Yes. But ok now. I had a full eye exam and contact exam about 2 months before sugery. I think it was the anesthesia, because i'm better now. (2weeks out). I had alot of trouble seeing close up.

From what I have recently read with no with no medical reasoning, this apparently is a frequent phenomena. Weird...but who knows. I wonder if it has to do with blood pressure...wonder if someone has read something about it...

I actually went back to my old prescription glasses about 3 months post surgery and have been doing well with them. It's about time to have another eye exam now.

It could have something to do with the aqueous humor being less or perhaps more which can effect the shape of our eyeball. ;)

I found this topic on another message board:

http://www.obesityhe...th-weight-loss/

One lady said that her eye doctor and NUT confirmed the weight loss and vision link. They also mentioned lack of Vitamin A

Do you mean vitreous humor? The aqueous humor is that tiny bit of Fluid between the lens and the cornea, the vitreous humor is the Fluid that fills the eyeball between the retina and the lens.

I saw a thread a few months back on this subject and the people found out they vision changes but that given a little time, self corrected. They said it was common and it would go back to normal with time.

I have had vision changes for sure & have read that it is a temporary problem with dramatic weight loss. It will correct itself, just like all the other shocks to our bodies...this is just one of thema

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
