Hi sleeve I was thinking about going to the support groups as soon as I'm able... I live in Eagan so it's kinda a drive but it's closer to work...

Can I ask how much you lost total in 8.5 months?

I'm down 12 pounds in 7 days, which she said was good because I flushed all the gas and liquid they pumped in me and then some...

Rai

I lost about 80lbs since surgery. 93 since my heaviest. :-) my goal was very modest but I'm happy wearing size ten and mediums

Oh I hear ya, my goal certainly not to look like I did in my teens I looked sick... A normal looking shape would be fine whatever that means... To be able to shop at target would be fine :)

I'm going through Abbott. Cuz my reg doc wanted me to stay on the allina network since I have so many problems. I really like allina. I've been with them for 27 years. They do take really good care of me

Hey guys, I was sleeved at U of M last December. I have been so happy with my sleeve. It still feels like a miracle even though it wasn't. 5 months later and I'm still amazed at how little I can eat! Good luck with your upcoming surgery!

It's not stabbing pain, it's like a very deep sore pain...it's like you have done 100 sit ups and your abs are just on fire...

But other people say they aren't sore at all...

I have been getting my liquids in pretty well, I didn't drink anything while in the hospital but after I got home and sorta opened my throat up it goes down better... I'm a chugger so thats been hard when I drink too quick it's like it sticks for a sec then a bubble pops and slides down...

For my first day of full liquids I haven't had a problem at all, just eating like a 1/4 cup or spoonfuls...

As much as I want to jump ahead and eat a steak it will be better in the long run to ease into it...

I know I'm about 2.5 months out of the last post but I wanted to say hello to my fellow MN residents! I live in Savage and had my surgery on 7/24 at Abbot Northwestern with Dr. Jessica Gutierrez. She is da'bomb! I don't think I could be happier with the care I received both at the hospital and by my surgeon.

I had the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery, day 0-1 Clear Liquids then straight on to puree diet for 4 weeks then mushies for weeks 5&6 before I get to go all the way with real food again.

I was sleeved 10/18 at Park Nicollet by Dr. Thomas Jones. I have to say that my experience from start to finish as been exceptional! The process to get approved was well organized and well communicated. I felt at such ease through the entire process at Park Nicollet.

My highest weight was: 311

My starting weight at the clinic was: 296

1st day of pre op liquid diet: 292

Day of surgery: 274

1 week follow up appointment: 267

I am excited to see what I will be at in 1 month!!

You are going to be so happy you had Jonesy, that's what i call him he got a kick out of that..

I'm 5 months out, will be 6 months Nov 15th, and i'm down 86..

Jonesy did a good job because i can only see 2 scars out of the 7, the others just look like dots..

I was just really happy i choose him. and actually don't want to dissapoint him or the rest of my team at methodist everyone has been so nice.

I wish you tons of success, the weight was melting off me the first few months then i started to work out and it came off some more. Sep was a bad month, very slow and my body was just wrecked from working out so much so i took the month off and just chilled, i'm back to working out and more is coming off....

I had my surgery on June 18 with Dr Leslie. I've lost 65 pounds so far. I'm very happy with Dr Leslie he's great. The wait and all I had to go through was well worth it. I feel so much better. I have no health problems they have all gone away. My taste for food has change so Im working on that now. I don't really like a lot of things.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
