TAKE THE PICTURES. At almost two years out, I wish I had taken my day before pictures. I now share those "preVSG" vacation pictures to other SoCal citizens who are considering WLS.

You will be amazed at your changes. Do not be ashamed of where you are today, please. You are not ugly, horrible or in denial. You are making a change. Be proud of yourself!

I took mine right before surgery too and was so shocked. What I saw in the mirror and what the camera saw were two different people. I'm so glad I did this and you will be too. Best of luck on Monday, I'll be pulling for ya :)

I couldn't take before pictures, I just couldn't. I know I'll regret it, but the shame was too powerful.

Take the pictures! I did..one month out..omg..there is a difference...take all your measurement..butt ...thigh..arms..waist...neck...I did...hated the numbers...BUT 1 month out I had dropped 11.5 inches off my entire body

..if I hadn't I honestly wouldn't have known. In my mind..I was the same...I am obviously not the same!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
