*hug* sorry you're feeling bad. It will get better. Right now you have to work at getting Fluid in. You have to. Suck on popsicles or just sip on plain Water, but do it. Being hydrated will make you feel a lot better. If you can't, because of pain or nausea, don't let yourself go too long in that state - call the doctor.

Of course you're weak and fatigued; you just had major surgery!

Take care of yourself, drink as much as you can, and rest and recuperate.

I don't think I've ever heard of a person that ultimately regretted this surgery. To me at 4 months out, it's sometimes a pain in the butt (I can still get sick if I eat too much and/or too fast), but it's the best thing that ever happened to me ... besides my family and church.

I am 6 days post op and feel tired also. You have to consider your not getting proper nutrition right now. Drink some gatorade or Powerade to get some electrolytes in your system. When you start drinking Protein you will feel better and your energy level will go up. Hang in there and when the weight is falling off right before your eyes you will be so thankful you had the surgery. Everything worth doing cannot be easy. :)

Hormones also play into how your feeling too. Don't get discouraged.

I had two rocks glasses with me at all times one filled with Powerade and the other with a cytomax protien drink. take small sips all day long you do not want to go back to the hospital for dehydration. You an do it. I am about 3 and a half weeks post op and I need to increase my liquid intake so keep trying your best you will get through this.

Hang in there!!....I think we've all had "buyer's remorse" at some point early post op! If you think you're dehydrated then you need to call your dr or get to urgent care or the ER....dehydration is the #1 reason patients end up back in the hospital. I agree with the Popsicles.....they helped me so much!! I also drank a lot of chicken broth at my dr's suggestion because the salt helps you to retain fluids. Just do whatever you can and know that you will get through this!!

I still have days where I feel frustrated that I can't eat certain foods and days when my sleeve is not very tolerant. But I wouldn't change a thing!...the benefits far out-weigh my frustrations

it will get better i promise. I felt the same way after surgery i was so sick from the drugs during surgery and eating is a huge challenge i was very tired but after anestesia thats pretty common, just stay focused on your goals and in time it will get better. Sip on Water all day long get a baby spoon and a 4 ounce container when your able to eat foods again they will help keep you from over eating remember small bites and chew chew chew slowly very slowly

Warning, Warning - long email ahead

hi there - you are very early in post surgery, Sorry you are having such a rough start i hope you have someone around in the vicinity to help you with stuff/to talk to - this board is great and we're here for others in "sleeveland" and especially for newbies that need help and support - and maybe a few hugggggs.

things DO improve.

remember, you had major surgery - sure you're tired and fatigued. if you do work outside of the home, i hope you can take time off to rest. i hope if you have those cute rugrats around (i know you love them) but they can be hard and demanding after surgery - try and get some help.

i hope you can relax, sleep - this surgery is worth it, really. You thought it would be worthwhile before - and its too early to throw in the towel, please don't.

You have to get liquids in - as much as possible. You don't want to get "officially" dehydrated. Drink whenever, whatever you can - Water seems to be the easiest, but at this early point, it might be hard to drink alot, drink slowly and it will stay down. But please dink, very important. I had a lot of popsicles. they are great. after 5 months i still enjoy them - purple being the way to go for me.

one day after much sole searching, you wisely chose the sleeve to help with weight loss surgery. You knew you wanted to lose weight for health reasons, or combination of whatever.

The purpose we all are here is to lose the evil weight. Thats why you went through such an invasive surgery. It will start paying off shortly, really.

we all have confidence in you - but please take some confidence for yourself, ok?

feel better soon, then your journey to success will be around the corner.

don't be afraid to write, just to write NGR - no good reason

ask any and all questions

best

kathy

I had my surgery th 25 of april. I am feeling remorse I say 55% of the time. This truly sucks. I feel lik ****. I was in better shape before I started losing weight. I am always tired. I can't do anything. I can'tg excersize, and I can't enjoy meals with my family. I need some encouragement but I just don't know what to do.

It's too late for buyer's remorse, so now it's time to concentrate on healing and feeling better. Sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk. You need to stay hydrated, which will help improve your mood. If you think you're already dehydrated, it's time for a trip to the ER or doctor to get some IV fluids in you. Once you're rehydrated, you'll feel better.

Get up, move around, concentrate on why you had this surgery. In a few days you will feel so much better that you'll wonder what you were ever worried about today. But, for right now, drink some Water and take a walk. It will improve your mood.

Good luck!!

I am so sorry that you are having trouble! I definitely had those feelings early on, too. But it does get better. Much better! Talk to your surgeon and try to get fluids in.

Like everyone else said...it WILL get better. I'm 13 days out and it's getting better for me. Today is the first day I haven't slept all day. I wondered the same thing, not regretting but wondered, when will I feel better? It's hard to read posts sometimes when you see people feeling so good and it's 3 or 4 days out for them and they feel great. I even had a friend, who had the surgery on a Thursday and was back to work on a Monday, ask me what's wrong with me? Just take this time and make yourself drink...or for me like so many others, the Popscicles are one of the main ways I'm getting liquids. Watch for signs of dehydration and if you really think you are, get to the ER. Hang in there :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
