I was wondering if any of you stopped your birth control pills before having the procedure?? I've been debating it, my doctor never mentioned anything about it....I have m last pre-op appt on the 22nd and I'm thinking to ask him if I needed to stop them for a while....

I stopped my nuvaring before. The doctor didn't say I had to but it can increase your risk of blood clots so I chose to. I stopped 2 weeks before and then started after my first period after.

Most doctors will advise you to stop because of the blood clot risk, and will recommend waiting a few weeks or month to start again. But do be sure to use a back-up method! Just losing 5-10% of your body weight can increase your fertility like mad :P

I was told to stop 30 days before and not start again until 30 days after surgery because of the risk of blood clots and just use condoms or other alternative methods if sexually active during that time. My surgeon said I should be fine to go back on it 30 days after surgery since the pills are small enough to take well. I've read on here that some doctors say not to use the pill at all after surgery & to use some other form of birth control, but my surgeon didn't see an issue with it as long as it's 30 days after.

I've read on here how some people had to take an IUD out too. It all depends on the hormones that are in it. That's what increases the chance of clots. I'd talk to your surgeon and/or OB/GYN. Somewhere I read about a non-hormonal IUD that someone didn't have to take out.

I'm not a doctor, so I'm not sure, but I know it is the hormones in the pill & some other forms of birth control that are what cause the blood clot risk, so I would think a non-hormonal type would be okay - but again I'm not a doctor, so I really don't know.

I was to.d no pill or patch 30 days before or 30 days after. I was on the : pray no baby: :P method, but was told I needed to be on something 30 days before and 18 months after, so I had the Mirena put in. Now I'm just praying it stays put. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
