Hi Guys! I know - I've been missing in action. My job has been sooooo busy. I'm in Okla. City this week, back in KC next week and St. Louis the week after that. I have lost another 1.2 lbs but I have been so bad in OKC. Tomorrow is a new day tho and I get to try again. Living in a hotel is hard. Do you hear the whine? Later-Katt

Kat: Eating out all the time is hard! That's what we've been doing and it is killing me! I've got to turn this thing around! I do know what you mean about traveling and staying in a hotel. Hang in there!

MOM: A big huge welcome back!! We've missed you. And there sure is a lot of YOU missing!! You've done so extremely well. Congratulations!!!

Mimin: Maybe you're building mucscle or it's that TOM. Also, remember that when you weigh less the same exercises that you have been doing burn fewer calories. Also as you weigh less it takes fewer calories to maintain your weight. Sucks doesn't it? But it's a lot better problem to have than the extra weight! I'm learning a lot because of my body bugg. I've been eating to much and I've really had to increase my activity because I don't want to eat a lot less. I'm a little weary of dieting. When does your boyfriend get his LB?

I'm sorry I haven't recorded everyones weight. Last week no one reported. I will try and get it all down later day. Keep up the good work everyone!

It is always possible it is muscle, over time I have adjusted my caloric intake to maintain a loss and I do a variety of exercises but maybe I need to make another appointment with the trainer and see what can be changed. I LOVE spinning and have been doing that 3 x a week, maybe should up it to 4 or 5 along with my other routines.... I have heard a lot about the bodybugg, I think I'm going to look into it!

My BF has had a change of heart (scared) and has postoned his LB for now. He is back to exercising and watching what he eats. In the past he has always been successful when he buckles down, his problem is keeping it off. I hope with my new healthier life style it will help keep him in check now that the ball is rolling.

MOM! Haven't seen you in forever but it looks like you're doing great!

MimIn...do your clothes fit differently? I think that would be one of the questions I would ask myself. It doesn't seem that if you haven't changed your behavior or exercise habits that going from losing mode to gaining mode would be so drastic. I would think instead that if you kept up the same behaviors that things would even off....not that you would gain it back and certainly not lose anymore. Does that make sense?

BTW I ran 5 kilometers in 90degree weather last night (8PM) and got on the scale this morning and it said I had dropped 3 more pounds. I really hope it wasn't all Water but I did drink 2 1/2 liters of Water when I finished. I'm crossing my fingers that it will stay down come Monday.

Just needed to brag a moment :)

Mimin: Maybe your boyfriend should get the body bugg. Men love gadgets and numbers. It's highly motivating and might be the tool that could make the difference for him, especially if he can exercise and lose weight. Just a thought.

I am sorry to say this, but I'm hoping that some one else can take over keeping the statistics. I'm usually a responsible person, but I've just had too much going on and don't see it getting better. My son is in his 4th year of medical school, while on a tropical disease rotation on the island of Dominca if met, feel in love and married a gal from Dominica. They applied for a visa for her 9 months ago and she was just approved. She is 8 months pregnant and we are flying over there to help her move and accompany her back to our home. My son is in Chicago finishing a ER rotation and then will come to SLC at the end of the month to do a family practice rotation. We are very excited that Tricia will be here, we have been praying for this to happen, but the last few weeks have been a flurry of sending documents, making calls and now getting ready for mom and baby. Also, my daughter just got engaged and that is exciting, but bringing it's own stresses. I also have 3 other children, including an 8 year old who I need to get ready for school, etc. I know this is too much information, but I wanted everyone to know that even though my heart wants to keep this challenge and thread going, I just have too many time constraints right now. So, can anyone else take over?

Quick check in. No weight loss this week either. Of course eating an entire tube of chocolate chip cookie dough in one day may have played a role in that. UHGHH!! Must get back on that wagon!

Diane, I know the feeling....why do we do this to ourselves?!!! I happen to be someone who grazes. Mind you, my home is stocked with healthy food. It's the junk that people bring to work that gets me. Yesterday I had a piece of cake for Breakfast, some frosting midmorning and a piece of cake for lunch. Yes, I brought healthy food to eat but it didn't find its way out of the fridge.

Down one pound for me, I think. I'm at 171 this week. Seems like all of this running in the heat would help...but I know the snacking is just plain bad.

Hey Everybody!

I'm sorry for missing last week's weigh-in. I'm down a total of 3 for the past two weeks.

I'm not feeling right tonight, kinda queesey, burpy, yuck.... can anybody diagnose that for me??? Anyway...I guess it's normal not to feel right once in a while right? I mean I wasn't NEVER sick before the band, so why would I think I'm NEVER supposed to feel off with the band? I guess I'm paranoid and trying to calm my "slip fear".

April...I have never had the barbie doll part of my stomach make me feel nauseated and Lord knows I can't burp much from it. I bet it's your big stomach reacting to something. Maybe something you ate or a bug. If you're feeling "yucky" it's probably a bug.

When you had your slip did you even know it? I can't remember what you said. I don't blame you for being paranoid but I bet it's nothing.

Hope you feel better!

I never check in but here I go. I am down 26lbs. but I feel like I should have lost more by now. As of today I am trying to stick to healthy foods lots of vegetables, some fruits, 2 servings of meats, and Protein Shakes. I am currently #196 lbs and will check my weight in 1 week to see what the results are. If they are good, I know I am on the right track.

Why is it that the not so healthy food goes down so easy???

Teri

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
