Who Else Is Doing The 6 Month Wait?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I just started my 6 month requirement (UHC insurance requires it) and I'm all antsy and anxious and nervous and excited. I've also become obsessed with all things sleeve- especially this site. I hope the six months goes by fast because this is the only thing I can talk about and I think my family is getting sick of me (although they are very supportive). I wish everybody luck- please check in and let us know how things are going!!

I started my 6 month managed weigh-ins in May. I should be sleeved in Oct @ NMMC. I have all my consults (psych, cardio, pulmonary, nut) scheduled over the next few months.

I'm 5'2" with a BMI of 39. Goal weight is 130. I'm 36 & haven't weighed that since Middle School.

I'm so anxious to get it done, time seems to be dragging by.

Hi, I started my journey in May and I'm hoping to finish in November, then I need to get approved, so I'm looking at a December surgery? My insurance is from the hospital I work for, its called Valley Baptist Health Plans. The surgery is suppose to be 100% paid, but I have to pay everything else out of pocket. I've seen my doctor twice ($30 per visit) and my NUT once ($40 per visit). I need to see him 4 more times and her 5 more times. I already did some labwork (free). I need a Chest X-Ray, Pulmonary Function Test, EKG and 3 visits to do a psychological evaluation ($330). I'm really gonna struggle in November having to pay all those exams...but it will be worth it!

I'm 4'11" HW: 363 SW: 323 CW: 308 GW: 120 BMI: 65

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
