First Post-Op Mistake

Recommended Posts

I have a whole case of Premier chocolate Protein Shakes that I am trying to use. Day two I had to really choke one down, so I switched to vanilla with orange Crystal light which was tastier. But I was feeling guilty about the chocolate going to waste so thought I would add a very small amount of Peanut Butter to one, blended with ice in the Magic Bullet. It certainly was tasty, but took me a lot longer to drink than usual (20 minutes is my usual time). Took me over an hour to finish. About 20 minutes after I was finished, I started feeling totally crummy. Not nauseous, kind of dizzy and really gassy and bloated. I spent the next 30 minutes running to the toilet. Apparently my sleeve is not ready for the sugar in peanut butter. I only used about a half-teaspoon full, but it was too much. Lesson learned! I'll stick to my orange-vanilla Protein shakes from now on. At least I am getting in my 64-72 ounces of fluids a day so no dehydration.

The Premier shakes will be easier to drink with a little time. By two or three months out, I was drinking them with some regularity. Peanut Butter took me awhile longer. I loved PB pre-op, but now it's merely ok. I'll eat some for the Protein boost occassionally, but it's not a go to food for me.

I had same issue with peanut butter--it was horrible. I did see a mention about PB2 on Eggface and looked it up on Amazon and was wondering if anyone who had issue with actual Peanut Butter had used this and had input? I hate to order a container and have the same issue with it.

I dont have difficulty with the Peanut Butter per se.... But the texture right after post-op made me queasy and the sugar (even in the low sugar kind) made me a bit nausious.

I am a PB2 zelot..... LOVE the stuff. I love adding it to my shakes and Protein pudding. I have never had an issue with it- maybe a bit of flatulance, but nothing upsetting to the insides.

I would reccomend you try it- especially if you cook or bake and because its dehydrated- its lasts forever on the shelf. Its also a great sauce for low cal chicken skewers with thai peanut sauce!

Thanks, CaliKat. I'll order some today. The low cal chicken skewers with peanut sauce sound great--I was only thinking of it for shakes, that adds a whole new dimension. I see some Thai recipes in my future! lol

Google the PB2 website... They list the stores that sell it near your zip code. For me hyvee and price chopper. It is only $5 or $6 buck. Totaly worth a try!

Don't worry it won't go to waste, you will still be drinking it in a few weeks when you can have PB, so just take lesson learned and wait til you can have it. :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
