I am seeking feedback please... I am having my first surgical consult on Monday ... One... What questions should I ask? Two .. I am considering a trip to Mexico for the surgery due to self pay and how expensive this surgery is in US.... But my concern then is follow up... For those who chose to go to Mexico ... Where did you do follow ups? Thank you.....

I had my surgery may 10 with dr. Ponce de leon in Tijuana Mexico. He is wonderful and not to mention his coordinator Trish and the rest of the team. I am now at the hotel (I spent two nights in the hospital and will be two nights at the hotel Lucerna. I could not be happier (ok I could be happier if my back pain would stop, I suffer from chronic back pain and it's been killing me). My primary care doctor in Texas will be keeping up with my blood work and follow ups. I can also call Dr. Ponce and his staff with questions or concerns and they can talk to my PCP. I received a video of my surgery as well as of my swallow test so if there is any question of what was do we can always check. If you have any expecific question please feel free to message me, I can also give you more information in contacting Dr. Ponce.< /p>

Good luck in your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
