I'm Desperately Hungry!

Recommended Posts

I did 3 weeks of pre-op diet and I remember how tough that was. Afterwards, I drank a lot of broth, ate SF popsicles and walked a lot. I've heard that some folks have found relief for the "hunger" (which is all in our heads) by chewing ice. It's tough on your teeth, but it IS chewing. :)

I mix my Protein Drink with milk and then add ice cubes and run through my blender. It makes for a milkshake like consistency with little bits of ice that I chew so at least you have some consistency. I have been having broth for lunch and dinner as I miss the savory if I try to only have Protein Drinks. It seems more like a meal. Just finished day 4 of pre-op liquid diet, pre-op appt at hospital on Monday and then a week later, my turn.

Y'all, I'm about to eat my pillow. lol. I'm not literally hungry, just head hungry. The mind is such a powerful thing, it's insane! Let me just say that the worst thing is driving by one of your favorite restaurants and smelling the food. I wanted to lick the car window. :) BUT I will say that chewing ice helps the "chew factor". As well as SF popsicles and seeing the progress in weight loss ;). These head games aren't the most fun but in comparison to the new life ahead, I'll take 2 weeks of head hunger and crying over pizza commercials.

This just made me laugh out loud. Licking the car window. I've wanted to do that several times. I've wanted to ****** food bags from people's hands as well that were walking by. Naturally I would never do that but the urge is strong. Lolol I'm down 28lbs and feeling great about controlling myself. Lolol

The procedure was, by far, the greatest thing I ever did for myself! I have dropped just over 30 lbs in a few days shy of three weeks and I'm eating fish, lentils, black Beans, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and Protein Shakes. Every doctor is different but the end result is the same: we save our lives.

Got my first hunger pang last night when my DH was cooking his dinner. The smells were driving me crazy!

I'd been lucky and not had any hunger yet, but my surgery was only a week ago and my tummy is really swollen. I'm feeling hunger again this morning though so maybe everything is waking back up...... uh oh :(

You are not alone sista!

I posted about this a week out from surgery and no one responded. I felt like a freak. It went away about 2 weeks after surgery and now I know when I haven't eaten in a while, but I don't know if you can call it hunger.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
