Shell - you look amazing! Changing old habits is really hard. And I am only back at work part time so I have no doubt that when I am fully back on deck I'll struggle more with this too. At the moment, I find that if I go too long without eating I feel a bit sick so that is a great motivator to remember to eat. I think you're doing the right thing in taking things with you to snack on - and nuts are great!

Quick update. Just had my 3.5 month check with the NUT and surgeon. They said that I have lost 124% of my excess weight. They're concerned that I lost 4.5kg in one week, when I was sick. They're not at all worried about me gaining 1.5kg back since then, even though I am. So, as of today, I'm 167cm tall, 65.9kg with a bmi of 23.6. I am now 8kg away from goal.

Yep, 14 weeks. I do have to emphasize that I had glandular fever and was very sick for 3 weeks. Losing that quickly is not healthy and not what the dr wants. It was only because I have been exercising like a maniac before I got sick, then stopped eating completely, while my body was using up so much energy fighting the fevers and infection. I'm pleased that I have lost so much weight so quickly, but I have zero energy and feel miserable. So... While I'm very happy with the results of the surgery, I don't want anybody to compare themselves to me. 45kg in about 4months, including pre-op is not typical.

On a totally different topic, my husband and I went to see the latest James Bond film, which opened today. We enjoyed it even though it wasn't a typical Bond film with lots of women and fast paced chases. Love Daniel Craig as Bond, but Casino Royale still my personal favourite.

Started on what my dietician calls 'minced and mashed' for 2 weeks yesterday. I think I took a bite or two too much last night and was uncomfortable for a couple of hours. Lesson learnt.

Surprised this morning that a single scrambled egg as me feeling full.

Have a good day,

I'm not a massive Bond fan, but I want to catch this one at the movies with the reviews it's getting.

What great numbers! I guess they are just concerned with how quickly you got there as you are still within what they say is a healthy BMI. I am exactly the same height as you and I just weighed in at 69.6kg - yippee, broke through into the 60s, now have a BMI of 25 - normal/healthy weight range and just so happy being able to fit into clothes from mainstream shops - it is literally a weight off my shoulders!

I am sure your weight loss will get back to a normal pattern once you have recovered from the glandular fever. So glad your dietician and doctor are looking after you so well. Take care.

Quick question - in the morning does anyone else struggle with your tummy gurgling like there's no tomorrow??? It is quite uncomfortable and goes away mostly dueing the day. Some days it can be quite unpleasant...

Lila, it is quite common. It is empty looking for food..I still get it sometimes.

In other news, guess I have moved into the next phase, have been diagnosed with gallstones and will be getting my gallbladder removed the first week of Jan, could not face missing out on Christmas events :)

Apparently gallstones are quite common with people who lost significant amounts of weight quickly, so I guess it was only a matter of time. One way to loose another 100gms or so :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
