Wow, 4 Days Until I Leave For Mx & Surgery!

Recommended Posts

I leave on the morning of May 10th from Philly to fly to San Diego. Where I will be picked up by Dr Kelly's wife.

I am a wee bit nervous (mainly as I am going alone), but about 80% excited! Confirmed all my details with Omar & he just told me I may want to bring some packets of chicken broth too, so will get some of those.

It has all gone by so quickly. Hard to believe in 4 days I will be getting sleeved & starting a new life for myself!

I will update when I can as I plan to take my laptop & will see if I can hook up to wi-fi at the hotel afterwards.

Have my list to pack... yoga capris, heating pad, gas-x strips, new nightgown, chapstick, laptop, robe, packets of broth, passport of course.

Anything I am missing that is important?!

Really?!! Oh gosh. Hadn't thought of that. I am only taking one bag, so not sure where I could hide my money!

I had bought a neck pillow at the air port. It had a small zipper in the back so i put my passport and credit card in there while at the hospital but had about $50 in my carry on bag and it was not bothered.

I just got back from Mexico and had a wonderful experience! No gas pains (only pain due to my back injury but not the surgery). I had surgery with dr. Ponce de leon and him and his team are amazing! I had no problem with money or anything g else disappearing at all. They also offered me a locked storage thing to use if I wanted to but I never felt the need. God luck everyone!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
